I was washing my car yesterday afternoon and look what I found.

Do you guys have this issue? I am planning to buy some wheels anyway, but

I hope that is a fluke. I went through 5 replacement rims with my Eclipse, and don't want to go through THAT expense again. Has there been an recalls on Nissan rims??? Mitsubishi had two recalls spanning both the pre-2000 Eclipse and the 2000-2006 Eclipse which were triggered by two separate class actions.

my OEM rim also has a chunk like that. This is on the 16" rim... Mine's more squareish though.

By the looks of those marks, it looks like the tire was just mounted by an idiot with a crappy machine. I wouldn't be too alarmed unless there's a crack.

Thank you for the feedback. I am not alarmed, I am planning to buy aftermarket wheels anyway.

From looking at the rim, it does not seem like it was damaged by someone mounting the tire on the rim. There seems to be a gap between the thick coating and the aluminum (almost 1/32"). I don't know how to explain this, it almost seems like there were bubbles on the coating.

Maybe its a combination of a crappy powder coating and a crappy tire mounting job. I've seen all kinds of damage done by tire machines that look very uniform, like on your rims.

Yeah, seems like its damage from mounting the tire. Judging by the picture and assuming that it keeps air pressure and handles fine, I wouldn't be worried.
