Default I cleaned the Throttle Body, now I'm noticing odd problems.

Long story short: When starting the car on occasion, the engine would turn over fine, idle up, then drop to 0 and die. After taking the advice on the forum, I took the TB off, doing so I noticed a lot of carbon build up inside and out, I then used the CNC (sp?) throttle body cleaner, sprayed it up and cleaned it out. Re-Installed, did the IAC, TB Sensor, and ECU re-learn reset procedures.

So, the car dieing when starting has gone, thankfully, but now, I'm noticing some odd issues. For instance, if I'm cruising in 3rd gear at say 3k rpms and I take my foot off the gas pedal, the car deaccelerates more rapidly, it feels like an instant loss of power, as if the TB is slamming shut. When this happens and I apply more throttle, the RPMs on the tach jump around ever so slightly up and down, and it smooths back out. It's the weirdest thing ever. Also, when I push the clutch in and come to a stop, the RPMs climb up for a second and dive back down to idle. I did the relearn procedures once again, I didn't notice any difference.

And if it helps, I DON'T have any CELs. It's starts and runs fine, just seems to have some weird acceleration and deacceleration issues.

What the hell? I'm thinking this TB is shot. Any clues?

On the VQ series your not supposed to clean the throttle body cuz it has some kind of teflon on it. I didnt know about that and i cleaned mine and the first thing i notice is at idle it was idling higher than normal and two days later i got a CEL and scanned it code came up iddling higher than expected so i had to replace my throttle body

That's what I thought.

Now I have to replace it.

How can a coating on the throttle body/plate have such a dramatic effect on idle performance? It is only a coating and should have no relation to the operation of the throttle body.

Do you think there is something wrong with the TPS? I'm wondering if anyone of the three reset procedures didn't take correctly.

Did you accidently mess with something else when you removed the TB? The rpm jumping around could be the idle air stabilization valve...wait, does the Z even have one of those?

How many miles have you done since the cleaning? How many on/off cycles?

I have probably a 100 miles on it after the clean. I didn't touch anything else. It's a straight forward process. Simple really, not sure how I could have messed anything up. It's been driven daily for a week or so now. Starting and stopping several times a day.

I really think the TB isn't calibrating or it takes more driving for the ECU to correct, I hate to replace it, as it drives okay, just has the problems I've mentioned.
