Do you use them? Do you believe that they work??

We have our share of deer that have been displaced due to land development, but was curious about the folks in places where deer road kill is more common.

I have the cheap $6 variety on all of our vehicles. I used to drive to the coast in october/november without incident.

The only time we hit one was when we had just purchased a pathy and I hadn't gotten around to putting on a set.

Rich,

I know a guy who had it and hit a deer. Totalled his car. But most people says it works good. I never installed on any of my car. Never hit one either. My father did long ago. He did not have that installed. I come home every day at 2 in the morning. I see bunch of animals around where I live. Aso the way I come home on the right side there is nothing but forest and nice fields. Seen a few at the side of the road. I am at the end of the town. There is nothing but land everywhere. I can see deers once a week at least thru my windows before the sun goes down.It doesn't hurt to install one for sure. It might save you from a big trouble.

I've never hit a deer and I don't have them and don't know too many people that use them either. Where I'm from, during the spring when they're really out and about, I've seen 26 deer in 25 miles (yes, I actually counted, I was pretty bored driving by myself). In 3.5 hours I saw about 40 that same night. Kind of a pain in the butt slowing down all the time. Personally, I don't see a need for them as long as you're paying attention and looking out for them, if you know what to look for. Some parents tell their kids to look out for the other driver, for us it was look out for the deer, and the other driver of course.

the one that my wife hit jumped out in front of her from a low spot. She didn't even had time to hit the brakes. It was dark and raining.

After we got the pathy fixed (and added the whistles) we were going down a two lane with woods on both sides. Spotted two deer up ahead at the edge of the woods just standing there staring at us as we went by. Didn't run, just froze. Maybe the whistle was working.
