You can get away with it as the crank allows more error than oem specifies. The only problem, do you feel comfortable at taking a chance. You can always get a reconditoned crank or have your crank turned and re-sized. I take a lot of chances on odd clearances and I get away with it, ut in reality if it fails I know it would've been because of my laziness. So it's going to be your call "champ" .zero_gripS13 wrote:ok guys blocks painted rings are gaped (had to redo it myself since he didnt do it where i wanted)..
anyways i plastigauged my crank today and i was a bit dissappointed and need advice..
stock clearences are .0008-.0018 limit .004
my clearences where (1.) around .001-.0015 (2.) about same. (345)but the last 3 were more in the .002-.0025... wish i had a bore gauge to make sure but i did it twice and 3 4 5 fit more in the .002 + range...
do you think this is ok or should i attempt to replace those bearings with a thicker grade from nissan (im using acl race now std size). would it be alright to mix the 2 brands. is it ok to run the clearences like this.. i plan on mostly drifting the engine.
please point me into the right direction..
LOL..Don't feel bad, I've done this before. Hell, I've put a headgasket or two on backwards as well. None with fatal results for the motor, but nonetheless I screwed-up. Rushing causes mistakes and please don't try to do it all in one day. Refresh your mind and come back to it and the results will be to your liking.zero_gripS13 wrote:dam i hate these type decision lol... im going to redo it one more time cause after reading i think i put the shells in wrong, the bearing with the full groove goes in the block and the shell without the groove goes in the main cap right.
