So i have now replaced the spark plugs and they have been gapped. The engine will crank and seems as if it wants to fire but seems to have no spark. When they are removed there is gas. thats what leads me to my question. what can be the reason of no spark. help would be much appreciated.

It's probably the ignitor. The procedure to check the ignitor is in the FSM. I think they call it the power transistor.

The Q45 igniter looks the same. The VH45 has one per bank and it looks the same. Check that before you buy it.

Yup. I think the CA16DE Pulsar's used them too, but that was 1986 only IIRC. The Q45 ignitors are easier to get.

CA16DE igniter is different, I think (1987 Pulsar NX SE) but I'm almost sure that the CA18DE igniter (88-89 Pulsar NX SE) is the same. But like float said, the Q45 one would be easier to get your hands on.

The CA16's module will work as well. They may have slightly different part #s, but they all work the same.

I think the connectors on the igniter are different, at least from what I remember when I was doing the swap in my Pulsar.
