Why can't I figure this out?

I've had a new set of rear speakers for my S14 for about 6 months now that I've been lazy about putting in because I can't seem to figure out how to get the decklid off to access the speakers.

How in the hell do I take this thing off? I look underneath and don't see any obvious screws....

I guess I'm just oblivious to something obvious?

Nah...that's just for head unit installation.... That's already taken care of.

All I need to know is how to take the decklid off to access the rear speakers. I can figure it out from there. :)

I don't have my FSM in front of me, but if the decklid is like my 200sx you won't be able to get it completely off without lots of trouble. It does fold up a bit and you can get an agled screw driver in there. Its a good question though. I'll be doing the same thing soon so let me know if you find the answer or I'll look in my FSM.

Nah, I just can't figure it out...I'm too paranoid about breaking anything.

So I think I'm gonna go ahead and pay the $32.99 to have Best Buy install them. That way, if anything breaks, it'll be their fault, not mine. :D

Save yourself some cash and do it yourself. It's very easy to remove the deck lid. All you have to do is pull the backseat down by pulling up on the littel U-hooks at each end of the backrest. Then it's as easy as popping up the decklid away from your rear package shelf. It's held on by five or six of those plastic snap buttons just like the door panels. After you get the deck lid unfastened it should pull out pretty easy then it's just removing some screws and you're in..don't worry about breaking anything-the only thing you might need to do is replace the plastic snaps if they're old/deteriorated, which costs maybe a couple dollars for a dozen or so.

I just took off my decklid yesterday. It took, literally 5 seconds. There are no screws and it just pops off in the front. There are 3 pop off connections holding it on. After removing it, the speakers are easily accessable.

Im assuming everyone is talkin about the rear package shelf where the rear speakers are located. I also put a piece of sewing paper ontop of the speakers too, I'm not sure if the 95-96's had the papaer like mine, I have noticed that the MC had different speaker grilles, anyhoot I think they were just to keep dust off and could help keep the sun out (I live in FL). But yeah like everyone said drop the back seat and pop off the shelf and youll be all good.
