ive got a 94 q with out a unit and im trying to hook up a new one. I know all the basics the only problem I have is hooking up my lighting system. Seems my taillights and interior running lights run through the radio and Im not quite sure were to hook them up. The headunit has a on off switch wire however my rheostat light has nowhere to go now. Please help havent gone driving at night in a while now and wana get this fixed thanks.

The lighting should not run "through" the radio... as in, taking the radio out of the loop shouldn't cause them not to work. Unplugging the hazzard light will though.

alright go to the fsm look at the audio and it has two red wires going to the illumination circuit . IDK were that is in the fsm cause its not under the bookmark. the one with the black stripe turns goes to the rheostat and turns on just the interior gauge lights. The green one turns on the interior and the tail lights and goes to the on off switch for illumination? Just need to know what sequence to hook these up in to get my lights back.

Just connect all the same colored wires together and you won't have any issues.

Ok let me reiterate. I am installing a kenwood headunit that im splicing into the q audio harness. I know how to hook up everything with the exception of the lights. There are two wires that went to the oem plug in for the radio. My headunit has a switch for the illumination switch but there is no hook up for the rheostat.I need some serious input here I work at night and this is crippling me .

So you're saying that everything works on the car, but you're just trying to figure out the illumination wire to hook up to the aftermarket radio? Or are you saying that since this work your tail lights and dash lights no longer work?

You are correct on both parts.My gauge and tail lights have stopped working because I do not know how to hook up those two illumination wires.
