Ok so I am finally joining the 240sx community within the next couple of weeks after lurking for a while. Now I just can't decide what to get and what has the most potential so I am taking advice from the always helpful niconauts.

So it's like this...there is a 92 hatch that in real life looks a lot cleaner than the pic. Its completely stock and would be reliable while also being the perfect candidate to start my build. Interior is mint except for slight driverside seat tear...it also has a 30k mile ka24de in it. I can get it for $2000 and have money left over to throw some coils and wheels on it to get rid of the 4x4 status.

Or I can get an 91 hatch with an sr20, jdm sport intercooler, afc neo, skunk2 springs, blitz boost controller, boost and A/F gauge, full 3" cat back, turbo timer, stage2 clutch. It is rattle canned black as you can see in the pics, has 2 cracks in the dash, a few dings, wiring is pulled out and needs to be finished, and the interior could use a lot of work. Asking price is $3500.

Or I can get a mint(except for the cracks where near license plate area) condition zenki with 73k original miles that is completely stock besides intake and a head unit. Asking is $4000 but He would take my old DD as a trade with 2k on top so I would have 2k to put back into it. Also the front bumper has been fixed.

So what would ya'll do?

Haha defnitely not. I am selling my DD which is a 1997 Geo Tracker + 2000. The Z blew a head a while back so I am using that as an excuse to build the s*** out of it and create a beast ...so currently I keep it parked. But driving that pos geo as a daily is depressing and makes me want to slit my wrists everytime I drive it. So I'm selling and looking for a 240 that I'll start out doing light mods and stuff to while still putting money towards the Z.

But of the 3 only the 2 stockers have any true value or appeal. Chances are if the SR'ed car is going to invlolve you re-doing a lot of what has been done. One of the many rules of car buying right next to "don't buy an auto if you truly want a manual" is "don't buy somebody elses incomplete project" Unless you are truly intimate of the details, it is adviseable to start fresh.

That being siad, for my 2K and Geo, go S14.

What you get should depend on your ability. That Sr will be fast but needs alot of work inside and out to be half decent. Otherwise I'm all for the S14, But I'm kinda partial to them anyways.

I agree with everyone else: get the s14, then get bushings and coilovers.

Not to be contrary but I think it really depends on what you are planning on doing.

If you want a 240 to DD get the 14.

But if you want a build.. be it mild or serious...get the stock s13 and keep your Geo. It's just a DD after all.

Do the Zenki or the first chuki, That SR is disgusting looking. I also spy an AFC Neo which makes me cringe wondering what the owner was up to.

I would go with the S14. The stock s13 seems like a good deal. You really do not want to open Pandora's Box with the SR'd s13. (My 2 cents)

Personally ide take the coupe or the s14, you should start with something stock for many reasons one of the most obvious is ( was it done right ) for the sr20 and the other two are pretty much clean...Its up to you but ide pick between the two that arent swapped..Do the swap later itll give you something to do when you get the money..IMO

i'll take the stock 92 over that 14. and buy the sr powered 13 if it runs like a champ with no problem. all the cosemetic issue is really easy to deal; you just have to be resourceful. you'll have two cars, swap all the good stuf from the 91 to the 92 with a great interior. put the ka on the 91 and sell it with drift tax and call it a day.

I'd buy the S13 and use that as a daily driver. Put the money left over into rebuilding the Z since that's what you stated you wanting to do. One project is already expensive enough. You don't need another one.

This. I daily my pigger and rebuild the hatch. Don't need anything too fancy to daily and i rather enjoyed my Chuki, and as was stated that will leave you more money to getting your beast back on the road.
