as she stands now:

ive had my car 4 years put on about 50k on it. She has 135k now on a ka-t setup. Daily driven on nyc streets are really taking a tole on the car engine and chassis. its starting to show its age.

ive come to the point where i want to keep moving foward, but eveytime im read to improve upon it something breaks or needs maintance.

eg. i have bc 264 cams, aem ems, aem meth. all sitting in my room collecting dust. i want to install them and retune my car but everytime im ready to something goes wrong. current problem clutch is slipping on boost, and the transmission is starting to grind 3rd and 5th, and the diff sounds like its on its way out ( wines like hell).. smh! i dont want to add more power and then break more stuff.

when i was younger i had little cash and i feel like i half a*ssed alot of things due to that. as im older now i feel like i should ither start from fresh or rip it apart and do it the right way. so idk what to do, im tired of the car showing its old age, and im tired of things breaking.

so whats to do? keep it tear it down and do a total rebuild chassis/suspension/transmission/engine?

or cut my losses and start another project (ither 240sx or different chassis)??

I would just continue to mod it. It looks great from the pics. I would nit pick the car for myself and just make it clean as can be, run as best as poss, and ride as nice as poss. Clean up the interior if need be, Maybe buy another KA and build up, more boost more power. How are you feeling about keeping it. Do you wanna go through the process of builing another car? Do you want to continue to put money into this one? I like it, if you would like to trade me for my s13, I would trade. Check my threads.

keep it. fix what needs fixing. if you start fresh who knows you may get a car with more problems then you have now. besides with all you need to fix you can upgrade

i would keep it. fix the things that are going wrong with it and as blacksrjdm said, buy another block and build it up for more power, boost etc. its much easier than starting a whole new build and having a whole new world of headaches. thats my .02

Keep moving forward... A differential is cheap... A transmission is cheap...

Get that EMS installed and tuned at a shop with the WAI.

Also, a good thing is, that your trans and clutch need to be replaced. Seeing that you have to remove the trans to replace clutch, Get a good clutch, and good used trans, and those problems are solved. New diff is bout 150 bucks to replace.

I certainly wouldnt "tear it down and do a total rebuild chassis/suspension/transmission/engine". That doesnt seem ness. for a bad clutch, trans and diff. That would be a little overkill. But def. address the issues that are most important and then clean up any other imperfections you may have.

yea i was thinking about just fixing/upgrading my issues.

i have another ka that im building. so that motor will be fresh should be ready by next summer if funds permit.

the diff i want to get a q45 for the gearing and the strenght.

my main issue is how loose the chassis is begining to feel b/c of old age. thats why i wanted to tear it down and reinforce everything then put it back together.

You mean strength only? The gears in the Q45 suck. Even the Z32TT guys are swapping in 4.09s because the stockers are way to low.

no i want the 3.6 gearing i find the 4.08 to short for my taste. i more of a hi way kind of guy then 1/4 mile so id perfer the long gears, also i hate crusing @ 80mph and my rpms are about 3k..

Oh I hear ya... that's cool.

Actually I use to be all about highway blasting but it's just too dangerous now adays.

The roads in Missouri are really bad and just a few months ago we had a couple notorious street racers die on a 150+mph crash. One was on a bike and the other a fully built domestic.

I swear I only will strip/track my car for high speed stuff ever again.

Now from a dig street stuff I'd be willing to do some low speed street racing

Fix it.how many miles are on the chassis?

im going on 240k on my s14 now and yeah things break. My Transmission broke on me a while back. i fixed it.

Machines are far from perfect. and most def. don't last.. esp with the power your putting to parts that were designed for 130hp.

diff's are cheap. upgrade to a 1.5 or 2-way clutch or s15 or obx helical.transmissions aren't expensive either. and rebuild kits are cheap.

I vote dont give up unless your absolutely sure you dont want that "particular" car anymore.and from teh looks of it. you have another KA your building and new parts laying around so i know you still love your car and want to stick with 240s.

so yeah.. my .02394774 cent
