Decided to go T3 Top Mount so I'm getting rid of a brand new XSPower CA18DET Bottom Mount header/mani. I have it on eBay right now, but I'm entertaining offers. e-mail me at [email protected] if you're interested or want pics. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

Maybe he meant T3/T4? I'm not sure why you'd go with a straight T3 either. A T28 is simply a T2/T3 hybrid.

Ya, sorry I didn't clarify. It's a T3/T04e 50 trim .63ar.

ok, why T3/T4. The T2 series has some serious screws in it's lineup. I don't see any advantage of a T3/T4 hybrid except cost effectiveness over newer bearing type T2s.

I agree. The only turbo I would consider would be like a T04 or possibly a T60 but that is way out of my league.

Can we say with fairness that a T2x is going to work for him if we don't know his power goals? Maybe he's planning on more than 300hp? If so, the only T2x series turbo's that are going to do that are the new GT series turbo's and they're ridiculously priced and not rebuildable or repairable. Or you could get a Turbonetics T3/T4 hybrid with a ceramic bearing that IS rebuildable.

While I like the t2x turbos, the price difference is a pretty huge factor in favor of the t3/t4.

actually. an old school straight t3 super 60 would probably do pretty well on the ca. it's by no means a "pretty" turbo but it's been known to push out decent numbers for what it is.

That's why I asked I was going to use the T04E on my build but that T300S on the shelf looks so good. I could turn the boost down I guess

The super 60 isn't all that different than the T28 on the compressor side and the flow rates aren't that different as well.

But at the same time, if you could pick a new/rebuilt T3 Super 60 for $300-500, while a BB T28 is going to run you $700-$900. That doesn't take into account the extra cost of the T3 mani, oil lines, and exhaust though.

If you're talking about the T3 Super 60, no. It's a straight T3, wich means it's got a T3 compressor and a T3 turbine.

A T28 is actually a T2/T3 hybrid where there is a T2 turbine and a T3 compressor.

I T3/T4 is just as it sounds, a T3 turbine and a T4 compressor.

Those are the most common references to hybrids, but there are many variations of each kind of hybrid.

Yeppers. It's a T2 flange for the stock style turbo. I was gonna use it, but T3 seems to be better fit for what we are doing.

BINGO!That's why I went T3 Super-60.It's cheap, cost me $500 CANADIAN dollars for a brand new one.

I bought it because I need to learn, I figure I'll go through more turbos than a one off manifold I could buy two T3s and a few cases of beer for the price of a BB CHRA replacement..

Also if I decide to go T3/T4 then it will easily bolt to the manifold I have.

If I WASN'T doing it 'on the cheap' then I'd probably have looked a lot closer at the GT2X line but based on calculations I did with the turbo calculator I wouldn't have been much better off anyway...

hell I'd buy it at that price and I don't even want it! I see a shiny manifold in Logan's future.

You can turn this into a T3 manifold if you wanted by welding on a T3 flange to it. Yes it's that easy, but the T3 that we managed to get is really shiny on the exhaust side, and polished to bling bling on the compressor side. So we opted out of putting it underneath. But when it comes to small displacement motors, and T2 turbo's, you can't beat the streetability of a dual ball bearing turbo. Just wish the T3 we had was DBB..

But that's my $.02
