you won;t get a tubular manifold for under $600, sorry. Go with a rev hard if you want to spend less then 600.

I have an SSAutochrome manifold and had NO issues what so ever. I think it's great but just MAKE SURE you have the flange (where it attaches to the motor) slotted. It releases all the stress on it.

After that your good. The manifold also allows you to assemble your turbo system with ease as ANY SR or Skyline turbo will bolt up and you can use the stock or aftermarket extensions and downpipe's.

Good luck man.

I have a (OLD design) boostdesigns tubular manifold unused with downpipe, also unused for sale. Take a look at it http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=phTubular, top mount t3 flange, I just got the GZ manifold and I will need to sell some stuff to make up for it. I can sell it for $500 with downpipe. Lemme know email at

[email protected] if you are interested.

The pics are decieving, thats the manifold I used to have and trust me: the clearance with a tangential housing is MUCH less. Still, a decent manifold for the price if you dont mind spending some extra effort on containing that heat.

ok, I know everyone hates ssac, but has anyone ACTUALLY tried the new version. to me thats a decent price, and its tubular. I am trying to build a ka-t on a budget, and if all I have to do is slot the flange, its well worth it. But the main question is: Has anyone ACTUALLY Tried the new mani?

Do you mean the one they sell on ebay? top mount that looks like BD's mani?

I bought one. I am not putting it on as it is right now. I will be slotting the flange that bolts to the engine, and reinforcing the T3 flange to the other flange.

i've had the ssac top mount mani on my car for almost a year now with no problems and no modification prior to install. i did brace the downpipe (that me and my friend made) to the transmission.i'm impressed with it for what it is - less than $200 and a equal length tubular manifold.i have a 2.5" down pipe though, and a 3" would probably not fit easily. the clearance is not great, even witha 2.5"... but for a ~.6 bar setup it does just fine.i bought this ssac stuff with the intention of getting something more worthwhile later on when i rebuild the engine or whatever i decide to do. but for the psat year it has been good. just stay away from the zy turbos or whatever they are. nothing but bad news there.

prep as in slot the extractor flange? nope didn't do that. i know i have a very small exhaust leak around the exhaust ports because of it, but the manifold has not cracked or anything. haha the first downpipe brace did break though. it tore in 2 places and ripped a hole in the downpipe. so we bought some heftier steal and seriously welded it to the dp. no problems since then... that was months ago.

i bought one of their kits a while back... it had the tiny straight t3 (which is a xs power turbo i believe, but is not stamped with any brand name) .48 exhaust, .42 compressor.

the bov they sent with the kit is a damn 50mm... rediculous.

the wastegate is the same as the boost designs one. spring set at 8 psi.

the kit only consisted of the turbo, bov, wg, and manifold, with all the bolts and stuff... no oil lines or anything. just the main components.

so i saw a compressor map of this turbo a while back plotted with the ka. i can't remember exactly what it looked like, but i know that 8 psi is pretty much as far as you go with this little guy.

i feel like i should write a disclaimer though because of the nature of this stuff. you know, i would never reccommend this stuff as a bullet proof solution. i mean nothing really is a bulletproof solution but for someone that doesn't have the funds to fix the problems that will come this is not the answer. i always have kept in mind that there is the posibility that this stuff will fail and i will end up with a car that doesn't run. between me and my friends though we always have spare cars/bikes/transportation so it would work out fine for me... just make sure if you buy this stuff you have a back up plan. the warranty is all but impossible to actually get ssac to honor i have heard - which makes sense because i tried to ask them simple questions about the spring setting on my wastegate a while ago and they never even got back to the many emails i sent them on something like that.i guess i'm just saying that if you save just enough money for a kit like this and then dump it all on it you will most likely hit a snag and be out of commission for a while, and with no back up car or anything like that you'll be screwed.the kit cost all of $800 shipped. and then i had to get all the other components - which in the end i probably spent $1500 (ic, piping, flanges, couplers, etc) , and then at least another $200 on miscelaneous stuff like gaskets and things on that order - which you will do with any turbo kit.anyway i dont really like advertising and advocating the use of ssac stuff but i mean it has worked for me so i don't want to put people off when it is such a cheap thing that has worked for me.

:sigh:you wont have to do anything if you take the jgs kit to the machinist..or you can buy their [pre-fabbed] mani.runs like 279 or something.. its nothing fancy, but it works.
