There is no such thing. Any video card you can find for under $150 will perform very poorly with the likes of DOOM3. However, that MX440 will handle the task. You may end up having to disable bump-mapping, though, depending on the cards onboard RAM and your CPU speed. Disabling Bump Mapping makes DOOM3 look like Turok from the N64.

you got to look around, I usually only buy used stuff or whenevre there is a deal...

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...epa=1

sell it for 155 new

"this card is 8 pipeline and 128 bit memory, it uses a r350 core"

i dont know what you're doing with the card but the gf3 ti 4600 I had was pretty decent.. the geforce 5600 5700 can be had for around 100$ now...

nvidia makes pretty good buget cards... look into it

Powercolor ATI has a 256 MB AGP 8X for around $150. I bought mine @ the computer fair and I've been using it for 2 years now. No problems whatsoever with it. Runs, CS, WC3, Doom3, and FF XI very nicely. Was running Lineage 2 on it for a while, graphics are good, but L2 is a bit graphic intense, that and servers are laggy like hell.

I have the ATI all in wonder 9600xt and love the thing. I think I payed ~$180 for it this past summer, and it's been worth every penny.

go to pricewatch.com. you could probably get a 9600xt for around $140 shipped. I haven't been following graphics cards as of late, but as of a couple months ago, it was the best bang for the buck.

if your wanting to buy a video card for gaming reasons and want to save money. Thats like the old car performance rule.

You could probobly get a 9800 not for 400-600 like the PCI express cards are going for. But mabie 200-340 range.

Give me your system specs. What processor and all that jive. If your upping the video card on an old 1ghz and planing on playing new games you have no chance in hell. I have an old 1ghz that i am upgrading to SATA and PCI EXPRESS. Also 10,000 RPM.

In short. 10,000RPM HD SATA only ATA100 = garbage. PCI EXPRESS is the way of the future. They are starting to get rid of AGP slots like they got rid of ISA.

I disagree on going with the trend. I usually buy things that are close to obsolete.... I was using gf3 when gf fx was around... I didn't get into p4 until norwood was released... same with the sata, I didn't use it until middle of this year.

What did I miss out? probably not much, what didn't I miss out? blowing money into what's new

agp will suit his need just fine. Especially when his budge is limited to 150...

I will probably get a 775 and pci express late next week.

"trend"? there is no "trend" in computers.

of course your gf3 was better the fx series is garbage compaired to the TI series. My TI4200 smokes my brothers fx5400.

I would like to match loading times between my 10,000 RPM SATA drive compaired to your dog ATA drive.

What else... Oh yah im buying a new p4 not becuase of the "trend" . But becuase 1ghz isn't cutting it on wc3. Warcraft 3 runs so laggy and takes so long on some maps it's not even funny. I can't run doom 3 so i would imagine i can't play half life 2 or future games.

So don't tell me im blowing my money becuase i have gone far from that.

geez, someone is taking offense and I can assure you that I am not atacking you, I am suggest that axel not to go with that route because of the limited budget.

my gf3 was ****ty compared to gf4 when it was out and when I had gf4 it was ****ty compared to fxs... my point is that you don't really lose much by not having the "current" technology. I don't konw why I used the word trend, a poorly choice of word. What I meant is "hot".

I think sata is one of the hot item... same with pci express, ddr2, 64bit.... etc

the "legacy" technology still exist and it will take a long while before the old stuff are gone. One exmaple of this is the ide to sata interface... ide has been since I started messing with computer... which is 386 at the time. 5 years down the road ide will probably still hang around, but who knows...?

Just go all out and buy a 6800 GT like I did (not ALL out, but just a 50Mhz Difference)I'd say go for a 9600 (ati) or 5600(nvidia) since both cards are pretty cheap yet still good at the same time.

Also, note if your AGP slot is 4x or 8x. If 4x you're not really going to see a huge difference between your current card and something around a 5400.

You guys are on crack, get a regular nvidia FX5900 for around $150, that'll be plenty good for your system

I love my 9800Pro 128MB

If you can find it for 150, buy it. Seriously.

Or you can save up some $$$ and get an x800 and be the envy of all your computer friends.
