geez, someone is taking offense and I can assure you that I am not atacking you, I am suggest that axel not to go with that route because of the limited budget.
my gf3 was ****ty compared to gf4 when it was out and when I had gf4 it was ****ty compared to fxs... my point is that you don't really lose much by not having the "current" technology. I don't konw why I used the word trend, a poorly choice of word. What I meant is "hot".
I think sata is one of the hot item... same with pci express, ddr2, 64bit.... etc
the "legacy" technology still exist and it will take a long while before the old stuff are gone. One exmaple of this is the ide to sata interface... ide has been since I started messing with computer... which is 386 at the time. 5 years down the road ide will probably still hang around, but who knows...?
