What are some decent bottom mount manifolds that I wont have to worry about cracking on me? I wanna run a Gt28 on it.

And that doesnt cost an arm and a leg

Stock cast iron manifold? It's not a pretty manifold, but it does the job pretty well. Cheap too.

I think the Tomei is pretty reasonable and it included like everything you need.

Past threads on nICO points to Full Race or extrude honing the stock manifold.

fwiw i was running a Megan manifold for over a year without incident. I forget why but when I got my GT2871 I put my stock manifold back on. I think maybe i just assumed the megan would crack "any day now", but I kind of wish I had kept it on there. The exhaust note was deeper with it installed.

Megan, OBX, TarboXS, all the "name brand" cheap *** manifold are made by the same few companies in China. I'm sure the Tomei manifold is also licensed out to a cheap taiwanese manufacturer. I've read some threads about the tomei manifolds cracking, too. If the Tomei manifold had a support bracket like the Megan does then I'd consider picking one up because where the pipes collect seems to be a better design than the Megan, and I do miss the sound.

For the quality of craftsmanship and materials you probably can't beat FullRace, but that doesn't exactly fit the "not costing an arm and a leg" category.

edit: apparently the Tomei manifold DOES come with a support bracket. and they still crack?

Whats involved in extruding and honing the stock manifold?

I think only a hand full of places extrude hone in the country, if not only one..

The process entails forcing a viscoelastic polymer + an abrasive either back and forth or one way through the passageways of the subject at up to 3000psi.

Stock manifold will most likely outlast your turbo and motor. It's Iron. I've never heard of the stock manifold breaking either. I had an OBX manifold and I ended up taking it off and going back to the OEM one. I actually liked the OEM manifold exhaust note better. I could hear the turbo more clearly.

It will last forever, it absorbs heat better, and its simply your friend - focus on the turbo and SS lines. the stocker is fine

Check out Codyace's build thread. He runs a GT2871 .64 at 22+ psi and 400+ whp. He had his stock exh. mani (redtop) extrude honed and swaincoated (heat coating) and it holds up fine. The stock mani is thick and built right for a bottom mount from the factory.
