If you are one of those people who have always wondered, "What's in Arizona?" well, here you go. This is why we gladly endure 113* for 6 solid weeks.

Christmas is quite beautiful here in the valley. The temp this morning was quite cold, high 20s, but it is normally in the 60s and 70s around Christmas. We had a freak storm come through which dumped a lot of snow up North in Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. I had to cover up all of my flowers and the fruit trees. The great thing about AZ is that if you want a mild winter, you stay here in the valley. If you want this

It's only 3 hours North of our house in Flagstaff. Win. Win.

AZ is on my list of places to retire...unfortunately the wifeunit2000 wants nothing to do with it. Too much brown for her.

Prescott is where Greg and I are going to end up. Retirement home will be 3 BR house, 10 bay garage, and a vegetable garden on two acres of land.

Camp Verde is better IMO, about the same distance/time just less of it spent on 89A going 50-60-55 mph with local law enforcement handing out written warnings for 56 mph in a 55 mph zone (I got one). Camp Verde has water too, Prescott doesn't have much water. If you can get a place on the Verde River opposite the flood side with 8 or 10 acres.... perfection! My mom in law is planning to retire soon and is looking at a 4th house in Camp Verde. I would like to have room for horses and time to ride them. Probably 20 years away.

Nissan Patrol time either way do it right with a VQ56 from a Titan or Armada!

"Endure"?!?! I'd PAY for that. It was 17* outside today. At 2pm. SEVENTEEN DEGREES. XVII! That's AT LEAST eighty degrees too cold. I'd rather have twelve months of 113 degree weather than one of 17.

Nah, over 90 is too hot. Working on your car in the hot sucks just as bad as working on your car in the cold. 17 definitely sucks though...

A/C in the garage. Your argument is invalid.

Cold is pain. Same sensation (seriously, it is...psychologists use prolonged exposure to cold to measure pain-tolerance levels).

Heat is energy. Absorb and enjoy.

I was in Mesquite in July, and it was 115 degrees outside. It felt marvelous. I could have stood out there basking in the heat like a lizard for hours.

Any temperature above 113* and below -50* is (typically) observed as pain by the body. Some of us it takes a bit more than that to do us in. ;)

At least you can warm up in the cold by running circles with a fat jacket.

Can't do much in the heat without A/C.

Yeah cause everyone has AC in the garage...you know what that would do to an electric bill? It's far easier to heat a garage than it is to cool it. I lived in AZ for 4 years, nobody I knew had AC in their garage.

I work outside everyday (I own a pool and spa service company). Maybe it's just me, but I'll take the cold over the heat any day. It's easy to bundle up and be pretty comfortable working on a spa when it's 10° outside. There is NOTHING you can do when it's 110° and 98% humidity.... Except "accidentally" fall in a customers pool.

It's not horrible if you're smart about it. Our garage doors are all well insulated. We don't have it on unless we're out there working on something. It doesn't drop it to 60*. We kick it down to about 80* which is absolutely fine for working.

Yeah, until you're helping Greg work on the Z and the sun has been shining on the door and makes it about 3465716487817324^23 degrees and you barely touch the metal part and it melts your entire arm.

Don't get me wrong Bex, I love AZ. I'm just saying wicked hot sucks. It doesn't suck so bad that I wouldn't tolerate it though.

Worked on the Roadster outside this weekend JUST because it was nicer outside than it was in the garage. :)

Jeans and a t-shirt. A sunny, cloudless 75* for the high. 48* tonight for the low.

BTW, Brian - We don't have an electric bill anymore. We haz solar. :)
