I don't feel like giving up too soon but need some more advice on what to do, ......I was givin up on it because the T28 had started burning oil a couple weeks ago and also the sr t25 before that after a good while, both were used but did boost good, a couple things are my fault, racing on them and not running a turbo timer and not allowing proper cool down time but was also debating if it might be an oil supply problem, but don't think so since the burning oil was only intermitently and the motor is still strong as hell and would figure if I had an oil supply problem I'd have other problems.

Would it be ok to take the car to a good shop and have them replace the Oil pump and tell them it would be the same as working on a 88-89 Pulsar?? I did run 10w40 Synt on these turbos, when I switched to 20w50 the smoking had stoppped but eventually came back when at idle after a period of time.

I've started on my first step by having the extra sr t25 rebuilt at a local shop, it will take them at least a week, next step turbo timer, for sure!!! After that I want to work on more ventilation on the hood and from the inner fender. Was kinda pissed after reading through a TPR (tuner performance reports) magazine ,had a feature on the s13 "breakdown"

"The Original CA18DE AND CA18DET engines were examples that came on Several Silvias and 180sx. With the NA DE and the turbocharged DET producing 130hp and 175hp respectively, these engines are widely regarded as not being worth the effort when engine swaps come into play, especially with the increasing availability of sr20det engines on the market"

I wouldn't think a new oil pump is necessary unless your oil pressure is below spec but a Pulsar CA oil pump will fit right on.

It sounds like all your turbo problems can be traced back to installing used turbos. You get what you pay for.

Well, from experience, If you switch to T28, you should use some 15-50 oil, with some engine treatment such as lucos oil, I did that, and I didn't have any problems.Yes the pulsar pump will work, it is the same one. but I believe your problem as you mentioned is lettting the turbo and engine cool down which you didn't do at first. So, invest in a turbo time and save yourself some more turbos $$, also, make sure if you are using smic, that it is getting the proper cooling where it has direct air contact, I have seen some one that installed their engine with the smic but he didn't cut the front pumper to allow direct air, so basically the smic was useless.

Also, check your oil return line to see if it has any bends in it, if it does that could cause your turbo seals to blow, also, try to use a catch can and see if the engine is blowing oil from the valve cover breather, some times people think it is their turbo that is blown while in reality it is their rings that are worn out and blowing oil to the turbine inlet which will shoot it through the engine causing oil burning.

Good luck,

PULSAR GTR
