Hi, my name is ben and ive been a KA-t guy since day one. KA's have started to get boring to me and really dont suit my car which im building for a road race car. SO ive decided to do a swap. I fell in love with the CA i believe but have some questions. Im looking for a motor that i can rev to 8500rpm. Ive seen some people doin it. Yet i have heard some people only wanting to rev to 7000? I plan on doin a full build and run around 27psi if i do go with a CA and try to shoot for 400hp. THe reason i want such high revs is because with a large turbo the lag on a 1.8 is going to be bad and id like that extra rpm up top. plus high revs are good for road racing.

Im lookin for advice from you guys if i should go with a CA. Otherwise i was lookin at goin with a pretty much stock rb25 which would cost the same as a build CA in my car. or an SR with a good tune and GTiR t28 at like 18psi

opinions please

revs kill the rods, thats why. the rod bolts are small and weak. if your doing a full build which you would want to for 27psi and 400hp. cams to make power up there. 8500 is fine on the CA. in stock trim the CA doesnt make enough power beyond 7000 to rev it that high,

Ok, the real problem with the stock CA revving high is that the rod bolts are relatively weak and will stretch with repeated 8k rpm shifts, resulting in spun bearings. I see no problem with 400hp as long as you strengthen the bolts in the bottom end and built the top end to make power that high. In stock trim the CA wont make power much past 6500-6800rpm, but you really dont care about that do you? some 272 cams with a 9mm lift and a big turbo ought to suit you well, and some forged pistons and perhaps some shot peened and/or cryo treated rods with ARP (or similar) bolts should cover it. If you cover your bases properly, you should be able to rev this little engine to the moon repeatedly with no trouble.

p.s. im drunk.
