I know we have alot of convertible owners on the boards since the drop-top roll call thread is filling up quickly, so all you s13 convertible owners give me some pros and cons. Here is my thinking: maybe sell my s14 and get a nice drop-top s13, put a nice suspension on it, wheels, front end conversion. Motor and stuff I dunno, prolly keep the KA for a while. I know they are all auto which sucks, but if I get stuff cheap enough I could swap it (i've done it before).

On the other hand, I have alot of money into the s14; 5spd swapped, rims, suspension, countless hours of cleaning, etc., got it repainted, etc etc etc. I could sell all the aftermarket stuff, then sell the car, but, I would still be out SO much money. Bah, help me decide guys. I'm not really *that* serious, but its a fun idea. Let me know your opinions!

not all convertibles are autos. They can be found in 5spd. Only 94 were all auto verts.

i thought about the same thing a while back...but then i got to ride in one...too much flex for my taste...also... suspesnion pieces are harder to find im told, the tops tear/fade through pretty easy(which applies to any vert, not just s13s), the top motor was a *****, lol... with all that... S14 handles better, alot more firm and predictable, easier to mod, already have it, seats are 100x better:D, its alot of work and hassle sellin all your s14 stuff + getting all the new stuff, its a cool idea, and if i could get a second car, id def. get that or an E30 droptop would be my choice...but ill keep my s14.

but.. then again.. its your money and you know wat u want and wat your willing to deal with so... its obviously your call, and i think it'd be sweet as ****..but i wouldnt, you have too much invested in your car to lose a bunch of money... my .02

All 'verts are autos, doesn't matter the year, I promise. Unless they are swapped, they are auto's.

KBB is filled with lies then. Says they came manual as well as auto. I thought they were all auto..I have(had?) the same choice man, but I haven't put nearly as much into my S14. Im getting the vert over keeping the S14, but then again, I really have always wanted a convertable, and I do love 240s in general, so it's a win/win situation for me. If you can afford it, I'd say get the vert, but that's just my opinion. They are so sexah :boink

I agree... I've said this numerous times in different threads, but people still don't believe us Ben. I've looked in the convertible FSM suppliment and WOOO! no manual transmission section:thinker not too hard to swap though;)

I've wanted to do this for some time, and was on my way to pick one a black vert in Miami, when the guy called me to tell me he sold it:( oh well I love my coupe too much to get rid of it anyways!

well Ben, I say keep the s14. You'd be going through the whole 5spd swap again, and the verts arent cheap. Your s14 is gorgeous (especially with that new paintjob) and you can bet your *** you're gonna have to repaint an s13 again (none of them *really shine* anymore) and its going to have a good bit of miles. Also, look at the money you've spent on your s14, if you're as big a fan of your car as i am (the pics u sent me are my wallpaper) then you'll keep the s14, but trust me, i know what hte temtation feels like, but be smart in the long run, besides, replacing hte drop top will be a bihotch

i thought the only year they made the convertable was 94? making them all autos of course

oh and my vote is the s14...if you could get the convertable with the hatch tail lights, then i might say go for it, thats the only thing i dont like about them.

they were made from '92-'94. I tell everyone they should get a 'vert. :) i swear i'm not biased!

The guy that built my car is selling another SR 'vert soon. He said he's gonna ask about 6 grand or so for it. It'll be a stock engine with an FMIC, turbonetics BOV, custom IC piping, 2.5" exhaust (I think), and this time, he's gonna leave the AC in. He does a good job IMO (i've had one problem, and that was a faulty injector that crapped out months after i bought the car) Hit me up on email or AIM (VvEthenvV)

Keep the S14. Why would you want the vert? Just for looks? Because performance and handling wise you would be better off keeping the S14

I know for performance and handling, definately the s14, but 'verts are pimp. I mean its not like I race mine or go to autox, I have done everything on my car for fun. I love having a rare car, which handles great, looks great, and sounds amazing. The 'vert would just be a new project, and again something very rare (a dropped 'vert w/ a silvia front...). But, I get ideas like this sometimes and then always dont do anything about it, so I"m sure the s14 is here to stay. It was a fun idea though. If I had the extra money and could get the 'vert in addition to the s14, then definately!

yours shines, as well as the sr'd vert, but you cna't tell me they shine like Bens s14 with a new paintjob, my 24o looks pretty good, but when it sits next to my o2 altima, the paint is almost totally different. thats what i mean, they can still look 'good' , but not 'new paint job good'
