It should be no different than the other symbols. There might be a little more glue but it's all the same and can be taken off.

I'm not exactly sure about if the glue will say nissan or not, I just debadged the Altima and 2.5S like you have... but even if it does just use goof off and wax it and you should be golden.

for a few months after I took the badges off I could still see a little outline from where my lettering was(no one else could but i just would always look for it, you know how that goes). i just took goof off to it again and waxed it again now its golden.

so if the first time you dont get the shadow off wait till the next day and try it again. just dont dump the goof off directly on the trunk and go crazy with it and you'll be fine.

first, just make sure that you are positive you want to take it off because if you decided you didnt like it, it would be a pita to get back on. to me, personally, i think with the burger off the trunk looks a little naked but thats just my opinion. if you havn't yet check out some pics online before you do it.

It comes off clean, do NOT use Goof Off. If you do, kiss your clear coat and maybe some paint goodbye. Use Goo Gone, the citrus stuff.

If you do decide to put it back on its not hard. Get some 3M epoxy and just make sure you line it up well. I took mine off and smoked it, kept an outline of where it should go back on with masking tape.

I read a DIY on another forum and it said to use Good Off and it even had a picture of the bottle on it... it didn't harm my clear coat or paint job at all and a few other guys did it and had no problems.

Thank God I didn't use too much.

Before I say anything, let me just state that I LOVE GOOF OFF! For certain applications of course. It smells great too.

BUT, the stuff is pretty serious. The only time I have used it on my car is to strip spray tint off of my tailights and my mirror side markers. It didnt damage my tailights that could be seen because of the red plastic. But when I stripped the mirror side signals it started to eat the plastic and left a "haze" on them. All good becasue I was just re-spraying anyway but it definitely got into the structure of the plastic.

I have also used it on my toilet seat (not kidding). My girl was dying her hair and spilled a bunch of the stuff on the crapper lid. Goof Off took the dye AND a good portion of the seat finishing off, so much so that there was a divot in it. I dont know, I would never go near my paint job with it, but I guess if you use it quick and clean/wipe immediately I guess its OK?

I prefer Goo Gone for sensitive areas, just my opinion.

I am thinking about taking off my badges, and I was told by the stealership to use pure alcohol to rub off the residue. I was thinking Goo Gone, but will either work and not kill the paint/clearcoat?

when i debadged, i just used dental floss, pulled the rubber tape stuff off and then rubbed it half assed like with my shirt after i put some wd40 on there and i never had any residue or any visible signs that the badges used to be there.

I used dental floss and Goo Gone (the citrus stuff) and followed with detailers clay and a proper detailing afterwords when I did one of my old cars.

I just re-read my post I made during a intermission of COD and the
Thank God I didn't use too much part sounded really sarcastic and it wasn't meant to be.

That crap IS extremely strong and I have no doubt in my mind that a citrus based goo remover would be better than the paint thinner wtever stuff goof off is. I just did a few drops and anything more probably would have fried my clear coat.

But I rubbed the badge goo off with my thumb and then got rid of the residue with the few drops of goof off.

So yes, this is what I did and it's fine.

When I debadged I used fishing line and stayed close to the letters/numbers. I did this when the outside air temp was @50. That left most of the adhesive/tape on, and because it was chily out I just used my finger nails and peeled the tape off. It was easy and never had to use Goof off or Goo Gone. After all that I used some wd40 to remove any adhesive residue and then waxed the heck out of it, no shadows, no problems. :dblthumb:

A recommendation about debadging: take photos of your trunk and grill. Then use Photoshop or another image-editing application to de-badge in the photo (using the clone tool), to see what it will look like. I did that before I de-badged, which is why I decided to leave the Nissan burger on the trunk. It does look a little bare with nothing back there.
