debadging + wax

I was debadging my 240 after 8 years and I noticed a crack around the emblems. I was thinking the badge ripped off the clear coat on it or that the factory put the badge on before clear coat and wax.

Would i be okay with putting on a few layers of wax. will it make the impression of "240sx" go away?

Man, after 8 years of sun and weather damage, where that emblem was should look different. Besides its just a stick on after it was painted.
