hey... im not sure if this is a repost but i was wondering if anyone in this forum has removed the altima badge and the 2.5s or 3.5se badge on the trunk of their car? if so i was wondering how to remove the emblems and if their would be any holes on the back? thanks ...

Hey,No there are no holes behind the emblems. If you use a blow dryer and heat the emblems, you can easily take them off by slipping it out using dental floss. Just blow dry and carefully work around the edges and you should have no problem. Good Luck!

EDIT: ^ I guess we posted at the same time.

Nope, no holes. It's very simple. Just use a hair dryer to heat up the area and use dental floss to slowly wedge between the body and emblem. You can use a sawing motion to help ease it in there. Then slowly pull it outward and that's it. You'll have residue left over on your body which can be removed by using a lot of rubbing with your fingers and a lot of elbow grease. Or you could use certain chemicals--Sticky Out by Elmers worked good for me without leaving any paint fading or damage. Always remember to wax the area after you're done.

According to some members, Goo Gone seems to leave some paint fading so beware with that product.

I didn't even use the Blowdryer to get mine off or dental floss although I might have tried that if I'd known about it. I used a plastic spatula (the kind for flipin egg etc. on a teflon pan. I just pushed it right under and it came right off. It's held on with dubble faced foam tape. Use peanut butter to remove the residue and wax it afterwards. Works perfectly.........

I am not going to debadge but am having my entire trunk lid repainted due to a scratch on it when I bought it. Had seriously entertained the thought of having them order the 2.5 emblems instead of the 3.5s. Would be fun to mess with people's minds and have them wonder what mods I had that would make a 2.5 run like a 3.5.

I used Goo Gone when I dabadged my car. I haven't had any paint fading issues. I went over the area with some detailer and cleaner wax right after getting all of the sticky residue off.

I would recommend doing the same if goo gone is used.

fishing line works too. WD40 takes off the leftovers, just wash/rinse with water, and no more badges!

Dental floss is much more effectively than fishing line. Trust me...I've done it both ways and I definitely feel like I wasted a life time using the fishing line.

Used a hair dryer and heated up the emblems, and the double sided tape got soft and i just started peeling the emblem from top to bottom slowly...didn't even need the floss..although i had it just incase...worked out real well...but sometimes i contiplate if i should've just left it...i like having mods but still have the car look as close to factory as possible..not so in your face modded....know what i mean?

I would recommend that you stay away strong adhesive removers such as goo-gone and goof-off which is the alternative to goo-gone that supposively replacing it on the market. Because yes it can fade the paint depending on how much you use and how long you let it sit for, but even if it doesnt show signs of fading then you still have a strong chance that it is dulling the paint or making it weaker, so in the long run it can affect the paints condition. I have never heard of the peanut butter solution but that is something to try, but when i debaged my altima i used fishing line, wd40, and 3m wax results were great but either way be carefull around the paint.

you know how some ppl like to "rice-out" their ride by putting all kinds of emblems such as R, turbo, supercharged when they don't even have those things on there. There are ppl who just wanted a clean look

I had to have my trunk lid painted because of a scratch a delivery. I had the shop foreman leave the badges off and stored them in the turnk.

I have had numerous people tell me how clean and appealing it looked without the badges. Even the sales manager commented on it.

Also gives you the ? factor when you blow the doors off a 2.5 or other make.

Unless you hamfist/splurge or your paint quality sucks, Goo Gone should not fade your paint.
