take a blow dryer, heat up the letters and with dental floss get behind each letter and it'll come off...buy some goo-gone or ask for something that removes glue...after that wash and wax and you'll be good

On a hot day you can pull the letters far enough away from the metal to cut through the adhesive with a box cutter blade. But be VERY careful not to nick the paint and cut near to the letter not the trunk.

To get rid of the gunge left behind, only rolling it off with your finger is safe. Practically any fluid to dissolve it risks the paint. But it takes forever and you'll have a sore finger - so most end up using gunk-off or something. If you use a fluid, give it a very thorough wash right away. This is more important than waxing it (which you shoudl do later).

Debage as soon as possible. If you debage an older car, there is a SLIGHT risk the paint will be a bit darker under the letters (due to sun fade) and you'll need a trunk-lid respray to get rid of that.

I know this topic reply is EXTREMELY late...I haven't been on NICO in some time, but am trying to get back on the scene. I noticed nobody mentioned using a heat gun so I figured I would add my input to refresh this thread for any newbies out there. =)

If you have a friend with a heat gun, that works best since you can just borrow it for free...but if you have to buy one, you can pick one up from Lowe's/Home Depot for around $20. A heat gun is essentially a hair dryer on steroids - a standard hair dryer typically is not powerful enough to warm up the badge glue. You need to use a heat gun in slow, back-n-forth motions. Try to focus on only one letter at a time and be careful not to keep the heat focused on any one specific spot for too long or you may risk the paint. Use a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a soft terry cloth to GENTLY pry the badge away from the trunk. As you can, use a gloved hand (the badges will be HOT!) to help pull the badge off. Once you've gone thru all the badges you want removed you'll now need to take your finger and roll up as much of the excess glue as possible. It may help to use the heat gun again just long enough to get the glue warm and pliable if it cools too much. This part takes the longest and it SUCKS...but patience is the key here. Take your time and do a good job or you'll just get pissed in the long run. Once you have removed as much glue as possible, I used a clay bar to help removed the last bits of glue. Then, take some fine grit rubbing compound and go over the area to smooth it all out. Finish with the clay bar again and some detail spray and....wait for it....TAA DAA!!

Now, sit back and enjoy your freshly clean-shaved azz!! LOL

I'm at work right now and cant view/post pics but if anyone wants to see pics, just let me know and I'll post some up when I get home.
