Hi there, I'm a new Q45(1993) owner and bought the car needing all 8 injectors replaced. Now I've looked around and found several sites selling the 94+ injectors for around $499 for 8 but no one is carrying package deals on the ones for the 93. DeatschWerks doesn't even offer the P1 on their site anymore. I tried to contact them on here and they don't accept PM's.

90-93 injectors [+ 16 o-rings] are only available from dealers or off 90-93 junker engines.

Never seen an engine with all 8 injectors bad.
4-5 is usual starting out with 1-2 then progressing upward with time.

Call them. They stock an aftermarket replacement IIRC. The owner, Dave Deatsch, will probably answer the phone and would be happy to talk to you. Nice people. I've used them a few times.

IF you plan on keeping the car, Get the phase 2 injectors and adapter kit from deatschwerks, the extra few hundred is better than chancing some junkyard ripped injectors or even reflows from another company. Ebay usually isn't a good route either. Even if you get some decent phase 1's they probably wont last. + you will need to replace a few hoses, gaskets, and some hose clamps. I cant stand those wire clamps. I THINK that you can still get the phase 1 injectors tested and reflowed by deatsch but im not sure.

6 of the 8 were bad (ohm checked over 14) and when I pulled one of the "good ones" the ends were beat up and the pintle caps were busted and had huge amounts of carbon build-up. We decided that since the plenum is coming off now anyways we'd go ahead and replace all of them.

here's how most of them looked and I managed to bust two of them trying to get them out

Of all the injectors changed on my Q [and most Q in ATL] the pintle plastic protective covers are intact. Cracked or shattered covers usually mean a massive over heat [knock sensor condition?]........other abuse of engine.

Carbon or deposit covered means an intermitent MAF connector allowed richness and usually the owner used regular instead of premium.

Forensics can prove owners are guilty of capital mechanical abuse.

There was an over heat I think, the upper coolant cap was leaking and there was dried coolant around the neck. I went ahead and replaced that and refilled the coolant, planning on having a local shop force flush the system. And yeah, it was pretty sad when I started taking the TB apart and plenum off. There's tarnish and build up everywhere. I'm gonna try to disassemble as much of it as I can and get it hot tanked or something. looking down the runners of the lower plenum though and strangely enough about half way down they start to clean up and the portion of the heads that I can see at the bottom looks pretty clean. I haven't had the valvle covers off but I'd be interested to see what the oil history of the car has been. Had clean oil in the car when I changed it the first day I got her and both the cap and dip stick are spotless with no scorching or build up.

I didn't know we couldn't receive PMs on here. I'll look into that.

We are doing a special buy on the OEM replacement Q45 injectors. Phase II, so you'll also have to get the P1>P2 adaptor kit. Our current line-up of 370cc injectors are now made from new housings and coils. Check out the link in my signature or our special buy post in the vendor marketplace.

Yeah i saw that. I actually stopped in your shop today, nice building you guys have there. I'll have to give it some thought since I'm not sure whether I want to switch my fuel rails or do your conversion kit.

Heh yeah I was the guy in the News truck, I was impressed that even the receptionist was knowledgeable about the specific parts I was taking about. She knew about the stock failure rates and the P1-P2 upgrade. For cost reasons (since I just bought the car and need it on the road) I've decided to go with OEM units for the time being (unbeatable deal on ebay for new ones). I'm going to start sourcing a 97 injector harness and some OEM rails and saving for your P2's to have ready when these go out though. Look forward to doing business.

90-93 - Phase 1
94-96 - Phase 2
97+ - Totally different

really? I read on q45.org that you could use 97+ rails and sub harness to adapt your older model to the newer injectors. Maybe I misread it. LIke I posted earlier I'm just trying to get it on the road for the time being since I've owned it less than a week and all. I'm still reading and researching what I want to do in the future for a better long term fix once I've got more income to throw into the car. Looks like I have more reading to do

Nothing spending a few hundred hours reading posts and another hundred on FSM won't prepare you to undertake after you complete 2 years of trade school and get a AASE degree..........buy the necessary test equipment and tools.

Most people just find someone with the skills and education and pay them.

Well I don't have an ASE cert but the 2 years hands on I had as a mechanic before the 4 years as an avionics tech on F/A-18's, the A&P I hold and the year I've had as an installer on Falcon 7X's should of prepared me adequately. Like any project though I'm just taking time to get to know as much as I can about it before I make decisions. The FSM is a big help as it the web just can't believe everything you read til its been verified by multiple sources. Not claiming to be a certified mech or infiniti tech but I feel comfortable enough to work on my own vehicles :bigthumb:

Oh and the thread I was refering to was actually on here just linked from Q45.org and my mistake I just got the dates wrong.

Just commenting that the best diagnostic technican is one who works on your make and year every day, 5-6 days per week. One who has worked on it for 20 years or at least from day one when the model launched.
Second best might be someone like HOUSE on TV with a TEAM of professionals to call on to get at complex pattern failures.

Luckily the Nissan technology was relatively simple and all the patents and documents are easily searchable if you read Japanese and many are in German since if you are going to copy any vehicle the Germans are the ones [the orginal thinkers]....

The image of Dennis in front of a white board with symptoms of "surges at idle" and "won't rev over 2000 RPM" saying "OK people... differential diagnosis" is just too much!

:chuckle:
