Dealerships take on +2 timing adv. Shenanigans or possiblity?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Went to dealership for my scheduled oil/filter chance and to fix a few issues that i had- (loose bolt in the tailgate caused rattling)- (windsplitter/deflector - in front of the rear wheels under the car was loose from alot of snow/ice)- Navi was randomly shutting down and rebooting

~ I wasn't the one who dropped it off, so i'm not sure what it was they did to the Navi but they said they fixed it (we shall see)

- nut or w/e loose piece was found and secured- splitter was reattached

~ oil/filter change ~ done for free

THEN, i had also requested for a +2 timing advance, and that there should be no worries because i always run 93oct so pushing the car a little leaner would be ok. The service manager said, he will do it if i really want it, but he is absolutely sure that in the EX35 specifically, even if running high octane regular gas or even if u ran high octane mixture, that engine knock will be inevitable -

Now, i know that a few of you guys have had the +2 done and seemingly nothing has happened, but i would love if Steve or a few more people commented to see how plausible this was, or if my service manager was just trying to dissaude me from doing it.

Sounds fairly straightforward as far as repairs go. -I like it when the biggest complaint people face are small rattles. This morning I was on the way back from the farmers market and saw a very new Audi with severely damaged wipers that had parked halfway up the windshield.

Ok so now for some timing advance. You will most likely not find a dealer that will actually be willing to do (on the record) this for you. Not many people in the dealer world are willing or know how to adjust the base timing correctly. It is actually a fairly simple process. The questions and uncertainty are enough for most people to not want to mess with this. The benefits of the 2 degree bump are arguable by many the majority of the guys have no idea what it does. If you use 93 (as that is the only grade used in my house too) the chances you will notice much is pretty slim but it's your car and you should be the judge of that.

My suggestion would be to meet your tech.
