I was having the trunk strut problem so i decided i might as well take it to the dealership since the warranty covers it..................took it in last thurs and they said "it could be done by tomorrow." Waited till tues with no call..........called them up and they said the parts are in stock but they've been waiting for the warranty people to call them back before they do the job................... Plus when i made the appt they said a loaner would be available and when i arrived they said there were none available.

I havent dealt with many dealerships so is this typical or am i getting jerked around. I'm very patient when things are done the right way but i'm just imagining my car sitting there for no reason

Do you have a 3rd Party Warranty or something?

There is no calls that have to be done unless they are trying to do a Factory "Good Will" repair where you are out of warranty and they are trying to get it taken care of for you...

I had thought they sold me an infiniti warranty when i bought the car but i'm guessing it is a third party. Either way i'm thinking of pulling my car since i never get a call back when i call to ask whats going on or ask for a loaner car. Makes me feel a little uneasy

Ive never been at a dealership where if you didnt buy the car from them that they gave you a rental/loaner car. And having to deal with a "3rd party" warranty company can be a real pain in the ***! Get a factory extension or expect to wait each time you need to use it.Good luck

I dont think this is true. I bought my car from a wholesale used car seller. But my local infinit dealer loaned me a g35x when i got my car serviced.

Infiniti dealerships will generally provide loaner cars for any non-minor work ... an "oil change only, please!" visit will not get you one anymore, unfortunately, although this used to be standard.

I've been luckier ... I still do get a loaner for any work that I have done at the dealer, no matter how minor. Probably because I have bought three Infiniti's from them since 1991, so they know me well and treat me well! My original service rep from 1991 is still working there - he is the Director of Parts now.

What is the trunk strut problem? Is the trunk suppose to fully open by itself when you hit the button, or only slightly open? If it is suppose to fully open, I will need to fix mine as well.

Thanks, CD

Pops open only slightly. Should be about 1 to 4 inches ... give or take a few ... due to the springs. On my repaired ones (Infiniti warranty fix), it goes up about 6 inches or so.

No need to fix as long as it does pop up a bit and stay up without retracting and closing again (this is the common failure). However, if you want a fully opening trunk lid, check out Jason Burtman's system that he sells for that generation of M45: http://www.burtmanindustries.com.
