I installed my Nismo S-tune and wanted to get a proper alignment done so I decided to pay the big bux (90) for a 4wheel alignment at the dealership.

They loaded my car on the machine and attached all the sensors and they told me that the camber on the front wheels are so off that they are would have to enlarge the strut tower holes to allow for more camber movement. I replied, I never heard such thing and how much are you going to charge me?He said he would charge double the alignment cost ($180 ). I said no, and that I would bring the car back home, make the proper adjustments and I will return with the car then do the alignment. He said that if I dont do the alignment now he would still have to charge me 90 dollars because of time it took to load the car and put the sensors on.I was like WTF? and tried to argue with him but that didnt work so I was pretty much forced into paying 180 for a freaking alignment.... bastards

WoW thaT really sucks man. At my work we do alignments and if for some reason the alignment can't be done we only charge $10. But then again we only charge $49 for a 4-wheel alignment.

Yea I know... BTW, at your work did you ever have a problem with camber of lowered cars? My car isnt even that low. S-tunes lowered it about an inch in front and half an inch in back..

Camber on lowered cars? never heard of such a problem!!

The problem is you need affordable coilovers that still have a camber plate on front so you can adjust camber... kits with camber plates usually start around $1000 from what I see..

Ok I checked with my alignment guy and he said that is pretty common. He also said on some cars there is built in adjustability in the mount to where you can twist is to adjust the camber and caster. But if there is no adjustability they elongate the strut mount holes.

Hey Slydin I really appreciate you asking your co-worker, All this time Im being angry because I feel like I got ripped off bad but I guess in the end it wasnt that bad. (but 180 dollars still piss me off)

So if they adjusted the camber by enlogating the strut mount holes, does that mean whenever I take those bolts off, my camber would be off again?

-thanx again.

yup they just slot the top bolt holes so that moving the top around will change camber, anytime those bolts move in thier slots your alignment will be out

I paid about $180 for my alignment as well.

..It was probably the best money I've spent on my car. It wasn't any special alignment, but the tech(an old neighbor) spent a long time tightening random bolts and such that for some reason became loose after my suspension makeover.

...that's pretty scary.

Set the dealership on fire.

That's just not right, to charge you $90 just for pulling the car up on the rack. I've never heard of that. I go to NTB for my alignments, but they also do look-overs/examine stuff/tighten loose bolts for free. I guess they did that to you because you dropped down the money for the S-Tune's, so they thought you were a walking bag of cash that didn't know anything. This is why i don't go to Nissan for anything unless its really easy for them, and they have no chance of trying to screw me over.

No problem man, that what we're her for. I don't blame you for still being pissed over what they charged you. That's total crap. I can see charging a minimal fee but not the full price.

the one and only time i took my car to the Nissan dealership up here, it was for the passive restraints. The drivers side completely failed. They were pretty big morons. First they said they had to order the part then never called me or anythign when it came in. I finally called then and they got all pissy saying that "it was a large part and they didn't like storing parts for customers". Then they lost some of the body screws that hold the plastic dorosill cover on and tried to charge me to replace them. All in all i ended up paying zero but it took some prodding
