if some of you have read my past post about my "cd player skipping" and the excuse the nissan dealership gave me, saying that the player is not "used" to reading "burned" cd's yet, you'll kinda get what this post is about...

i'm gonna go to the dealership asap sometime next week, and after reading the responses on my other thread, i've kinda lost trust in the dealership..

i also pointed out to them that i hear a "whistle" noise when decellerating or braking and coming to a complete stop. their response was that its the "cvt, it's normal", but now i doubt that as well.

anyone know if what they said about the cvt is true? or all they bsing me again?

p.s. whenever i pull up into my garage, there is a slight bump/raise in the ground level, bout half and inch or less, and i hear a "clunk" coming from my rear springs/shocks ..it could be somethin else

sorry this went too long

well i had pretty bad issues with the dealers in my area too

the service is plane pathetic at nissan dealerships. if it werent for warrentee i would never go to nissan for any type of service

i have hte whistle sound once in a while when i decelerate or when i turn of the ignition (SOMETIMES)

I like my alitma but it really doesnt compare with other companies in certain brands such as honda or bmw

honda is cheap, but they do have certain areas with good qualities such as less problems and most of there parts last a bit longer then nissan

bmw is solid and strong, engine to the wheels the design is alot better (but u pay for the quality)

There really isnt anyuthing u can do about the dealers, they can lie to u about its "normal" and tell u to leave, but thats only if u have warrentee......

if u dont.... they will definetly say there is a major problem and needs to be FIXED ASAP at HIGH PRICE!! haha

dealerships get paid for warrentee fixing too, but from my guess, they get paid less then if it was non-warrentee claimed

A lot of times it is "dealer specific". For 4 years I refused to use my local Nissan dealer due to shoddy work and always having them say "no" and fighting to get warranty work done. My issues with them started when they replaced the service manager I liked with some old crone, thus I started to use another dealership and received awesome service from them. Recently, I had some work done and used the first dealership again due to time constraints and was very happy with them (new service manager) again.

Why are so many new Altimas having all kinds of problems? I know first generation cars aren't perfect...but this is just out of control.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.

I wouldn't even be upset because it is just a Nissan. Lexus, BMW, Infiniti on the other hand...

Though, some of my boys say that you're (not the OP, in general) just looking for defects/issues because after all it's a new car and you want everything to be perfect.

At the end, all you can do is try a different Dealership or hope the Service Manager is more helpful. Good luck with your Coupe.

Any issues should be taken care of if it is within the 3/36 warranty period. That's why you get a warrant with them

Hey guys, if you guys have been following my posts, you'll know I've had lotsa problems with the car AND the stealership. What pisses me off the most is the amount of cash the dealership must've made by fixing my car under warranty from Nissan. The dealership is happy when you bring in your car for warranty repair. Eversince I got my new headliner I haven't gone anywhere near Brampton North Nissan and I don't ever wanna go back. I've switched. BUT the car still has it's issues. I just finished writing a letter to Nissan and I will be faxing it to head office tomorrow. I threatened to go to some south asian community newspapers since Brampton has a significant population of south asians = boycott; to telling them I will be doing everything I can to prevent my friends, co-workers and family from buying a Nissan. I even threatened to switch back to Honda.....lets see if I get some attention. I also mentioned that I want a response from the MANAGER of customer service, not some representative. I ended it with threatening to go through (equivalent to US Lemon Law) - Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan.

Well I am one of those ppl following your issues, and I am glad to hear your still pushing hard. I do agree with the others you should change dealerships jsut for the different techs/managers and see if it is a different experiance.

also have you tried calling the owner of the dealership. generally they are not around day to day, but they have in my experiances been extremely helpful, and very very upset to hear that their customers are getting less then expected help. id call or write a letter to them explaining whats been happening as well.

word of caution though, most of the owners do not know day to day whats going on at the dealership, so being extremely nice to them but firm goes a long way in them helping you. the few times ive used this method the owners talked to the managers with me and my car was promptly fixed and out the door (toyota dealership that screwed my oil change /inspecution with a bunch of bs "needed parts" )

Thanks for your valued input man, and yes we inquired about the owner when we met with the GM and complained to him, he sai that the owner is a 70 year old dude who lives in Arizona on top of a hill in a multi million dollar mansion...the GM was an *******, hes like u can contact him when he's in town...he will kindly hear your issues and then it wil come back to me again....neways....I'm found it better to just switch dealerships...i regret ever buying from these bastards.....I wish I had purchashed from the dealership I got to now.....one of the first and biggest mistakes I made.

your dealer is full of **** because the reading lazer in your cd player will not "learn" how to read disks. what i would do is go to another dealer. also try to get to know the people and be as nice as you can, they have to deal with *** holes all day. (trust me i have to deal with people and i don't notice it but when some one is nice to me i go the extra mile to help them out)( i have only had one prob so far but that was a prssure sensor in the wheel and the dealer got it done for me for free).

Exactly, unless the car has a mind of its own.

ok well, i contacted another dealership nearby, a lil further than my current one (2.2miles from my house) but that dealership is soo crappy, and i've taken up on everyone's advice to try another dealership, and when i tlaked with the technician at the 2nd dealership, he said he's never heard a more bogus story than that before. so he told me to bring the car in, so now i'm gonna be headin in there, and hopefully my troubles and worries will be lifted off my shoulders...

+ today it rained pretty hard. was out of gas so i filled the baby up, and after that i noticed every time i come to a full stop at a signal or a stop sign, i hear a large amount of liquid swishing back and forth in the rear, is this my gas and the tank? or wtf is wrong with my car

Glad to hear your visit to another dealer yielded better results.

As for the liquid in the back. I've personally never heard the fuel tank. Thats most likely what it is though.

Your gas tank should have baffles in it to reduce the sloshing around of the gas. One reason for reducing the sloshing is to keep the gas gauge sensor from going nuts and your fuel gauge from moving too much.If your new dealership is better to deal with, ask them if they have ever heard of this problem.Hopefully you don't have a leak in your trunk or something LOL. I've also seen water sloshing around in the taillights on some vehicles when I've driven behind them. I'll bet most of them don't even know half their taillight is full of water. Check that out too.Good luck.

I don't think you're supposed to be hearing your fuel tank. Unless maybe you're braking really hard from 60 to 0 or something.

Oh really? I will have to explain this to the dealership if its a problem.

The only time this happens is when I fill my tank up to full, and usually its the first stop/movement I do. After that I don't hear it.

Note: Fill ups are from 1/4 to 4/4(Full tank)

Man, you guys have some crappy dealers. I can't speak about everyone I work with, but I ALWAYS fix warranty complaints, no matter how deep I have to dig.

To the guy above who stated that dealers make a ton of money off of warranty, you couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm not being an ***, but hear me out:

IF there is no repair done to the vehicle, or if no problem is found, nobody gets paid for it. The ONLY way to get paid for warranty is if you can properly diagnose, repair, and show evidence of it. I.E. check engine light, printout of the code, steps to repair, print out of the code cleared, warranty punch times start and finish, etc. Plus, warranty time usually pays half of customer pay, I.E. 2003 Altima 2.5L engine, under warranty, 8 hours, under customer pay, 16 (including diagnosis time). You CAN get more warranty time for diagnosis if you THOROUGHLY document EVERYTHING done. I've seen a tech get 16 hours to trace a wiring issue on an Armada because he wrote a book for it.

I know the problems you guys have with dealers, trust me, I hear from other people how they can't stand the surrounding dealers to my work. But, I can only speak for me when I say this, I bust my butt for every ticket I get, whether it's customer pay or warranty pay, because I know IF it were my car, I'd want it done right the first time.

With that said, I will say I have yet to see any of these issues with the Altima coupe, but I do believe all of what you guys are saying. It does say in the owner's manual (I read mine completely on the toilet LOL) that the factory radio isn't meant to see burned cds. Then how, exactly, can one listen to an MP3 CD on an MP3 CD capable radio? Nobody sells said discs.

thanks for all the responses guys. well i finally visited my new dealership today, and right away they said they'll order me a new cd player. thats all i wanted to hear and receive from them in the first place! as for the sloshing sound. i also believe its just the fuel tank, and i only hear it when i fill up all the way.

1 week and i get all my problems fixed..thank god

My car is currently at the dealership overnight. The master-tech has to check up on the seat creaks, squeaks, and rattles because the regular tech couldn't figure it out. Hopefully they figure it out by tomorrow because I feel uneasy about leaving my car there for an extended period of time. I also noticed my motorized driver seat feels a little off track when I move it foward and back. They're supposed to be checking up on that too.

i should have em do this too!, or for the seat rattling, hope that can be fixed?

and also does anyone feel their driver side seat to not feel stable sometimes, for example when i'm coming to a full stop, not hard on the brakes, but casually sometimes the seat doesnt feel tight and stuck, it feels somewhat loose at times.

Yes, that seat issue is a common problem. It kind of feels like it's shifting a little, right? Well that's one of the things I'm having them check up.
