hello guys.. so i did some research regarding my driver side speaker acting up when playing CDs and it turns out that it is the headunit that's causing the problem.

(to be exact, it is some ribbon connection inside the headunit) and the only way to fix it is to have it replaced by the dealer....

so i called the Markham infiniti dealer and the service advisor Bobby Chan there told me that if the speaker is working when i bring my car in. then they wouldn't be able to do anything other than giving me my car back as is..

but the thing is.... this problem is not consistent so i cant guaarantee that the speaker won't work when my car is there.....

given that i have a typical 9 to 5 fulltime.. it'd be rather difficult and stupid for me to take a day off, bring my car in, and find out that the stereo is working by then..... do you guys have any suggestions on what i should do to this issue...?

i know calling another dealer is an option here but i think it is probably Infiniti's standard rule not to replace anything when it is not broken at their presence...

G35 is a great car to drive but honestly i am so sick and tired of all the small issues like windows motor acting up, rattling rearview mirror, rattling rear window finishers, blah blah blha.... it seems like my G has all the little prblems listed on the TSBs....now i am starting to think buyinig my G was prolly a bad decision to begin with.....

i came from a Honda Civic Coupe 2002 (which i bougth it brand new) and honestly that car gave me way less hazzles than my G brings me.. ...(the only thing that i changed in 5 years is a set of washed-out rotors and brake pads..

where for my G, i bought it in May 2007 and since then i have been to dealers at least 20 times and have changed

auto dimming rearview mirrorfixed the rattling from my window finisherrear end linkssticking seat adjust switchpassenger side windows motorilluminate light in passenger side seat heaterdriver seat assemblytrunk plateand now my stereo is acting up

unlike all of you car enthusiasts, i am just an average sports car fan who loves beautiful cars with good performance...but on the other side i also want my car to be low-maintainance and less problematic so that going to car dealership doen't become my regular weekend activity as of now

i have been babying my car to death since day 1 i got my car. Within the frist week after i got my car, i did the engine oil change (Mobil1 Syntehtic, of couse), rear differential oil change, radiator change, coolant change, braking oil change, airfilter, oil filter change, basically everything that's recommended on their premium schedule..and just weeks ago i bought a new set of blizzak and did the alignment right after, and i keep my car in my garage all time ... and it is still giving me these much problems...

yes it is a beautiful car that'd make alot of people turning their heads (which is the exact reason why i bought this car and i REALLY love the look).. but putting all other parameters in the equation, i would say this car is totally not worth the money and there is a reason why Lexus is still the dominant brand in both Japan and North America (if i am not wrong).....now the only reason i dont want to sell my car right now is only because i dont want to lose a few thousand bucks due to the deppreciation, but defnitely NOT because i love the car the way i did before owning it...in conclusion, this is just a bad car...

not trying to pick up a fight here.. jsut my rants and dissapointment after 6 onths of owning a G35

Sorry to hear about your GIn some states this vehicle would be declared a lemon. If this is a new vehicle under warranty you may be able to make a case for a replacement?I have an 06 with almost 44k miles and other than a defective tire pressure sensor, and a defective air bag sensor both of which were replaced under warranty I am very happy with my GYou may want to make nice with the service people? A crisp bill can sometimes work wonders. Request a loaner and ask one of the service people to use your vehicle for a few days so they can confirm the problem.

thanks for your input, telcoman,

unfortunately I am from Toronto Canada and the service advisors here aint as nice as ones in States (even though the same vehicle costs $8000 more MSRP )...i bought the car used in May 27th this year with 51000 miles on it (so the lemon thing doesn't work on me i guess).. the warranty is due on Fec 28th, 2008. .. given that i only drive my car on the weekend, i still have about 3 months left.....i have tried to send a complaint letter to Infiniti Canada, talked to 3 service advisors from 2 different dealers..but nope.. no help at all.. they still ended up charing me $54 for literally 2 mins of inspection and another 60 bucks for the parts and labor when i went to get my trunk plate bracket replaced (even thouh it's under warranty, that part was identied as a consumeable item)....

i have come to a point where i am really tired of fighting against these people for somethign that i thought it should've come with the car naturally (ie: reliability, endurance, low-matainance).. Infiniti G35 is in 50K - 55k price range in Canada.... given the quality and the level of workmanship...i am sure Infiniti will get a high rating of customer satisfication in years to come...

It's really unfortunate you having these problems. The previous owner could have really been hard on the car as I believe Infiniti is pretty reliable - mine has been. Just remember even Lexus has lemon buybacks and Toyota has had it's share of problems lately.

I do know how you feel. I purchase a new Jaguar in 04 and in the two years I had it, it was in the shop 16 times.

Hey Brother,

I have a totally different experience here in Guelph. I had some issues with mine all these airleaks chipping grill etc. They fixed everything no question asked. Even with the chipping grill. I was the forst one that time since I have the G almost day one they came out. No issue what so ever. I am also fortunate enough to leave 4 minutes from the dealer Also they should give you a loaner car till they fixing/checking yours. I only work 4 days week and usually put the car in Friday when I am home. But if I know it will take more then a day to fx it. I start Monday so I can ge the car back for weekend.

Anyways,

I would take it in when you take it in for oil change. Leave it there and tell them your concern. They have to ivestigate it no matter what. You'll get your car back if it is not fixed just keep your paper work. If something comes up later on you can show them. Also try to print out the TBS for it when you are taking it in show it to them. They'll know you aware of the problem they have with the 03 and beleive 04.

The reason I don't buy a used car because I don't know how well it was taken care. If I remember right you have the 03. That was the first year for the G with "lots" of problem. If you had an 05 probably you would of been a lot happier know. Time to get a newer one. It is winter here you can get a good deal on sport car in winter time.

Jaguar- did you mean Ford- just kidding. My old friend is in the same shoe. He bough one new and it is in the shop every 3 weeks for a day or 2. Also jags losing the value badly. Now he is trying to get rid of it as a lemon. Our lemon law in Canada is different. There is actually no real lemon law but something like that just a bit worst.

thanks guy,

Zozo you're real lucky that u r living in Guelph, come to Tornoto infiniti dealer when you get a chance and experiene their customer service here..(the 19" old-school TV in their customer waiting room even broke down one day when i sent my car to Williowdale dealership for service)....

i have also come to realize that the previous owner probably wasn't treaing my G very well when he had her (that explained all the rattling and busted endlinks..)

but for things like defective headunit, windows motor, i'd rather believe it's the original design flaw frmo Infiniti.....

for me, having a 10 years award-winning VQ35DE 280hp engine in my car does make me feeling kidda cool..

but having a 115hp non-vtec Civic hazzle-free definitely outweights the cons of bad handlningi and weak power the car comes with......

up to this moment, i am just gonna live with it, worst comes to worst, i will just drive a close to 60K (after tax) Infiniti G35 with no music but FM radio..i've got more important thigns to deal in my life (sleeping) than going to dealership every saturday morning.

but tthanks for all your support guys, you guys've been great!

Check the hours of the service department, some of them have extended hours on certain days.
