Asking for $575 a month / 2 year lease / with 5k down
A little too much for my taste.. Plus not a fan of leasing
40k sticker price
Perhaps you can get a two for one deal?soakgame wrote:thanks telco.. i'll keep the things you said in mind
. he even had a good lookin' female dealer (supposedly training) looking over his shoulder the whole time.. ..
Boy, do I feel like a fool! I had no idea my way was so wrong. All I did was call managing partner of dealership and tell him what I wanted. Stop by his office and watch while he places order for my car. Go back to dealership when car ready for pickup. Drive new car away from dealership. Smile.telcoman wrote:

Welcome to NICO
WRONG way to start in my opinion.
Research on internetObtain Internet pricing with contacts at three dealersvisit each one for test drives and get pricestell each one you have to discuss it with wife (if not married return with hot gf)when you return to each dealer let wife or gf test drivenegotiate price some moreleave to think it overreturn to each one just before closing timethink about it some morereturn at end of monthOnly after you obtain the very best price should the question of lease ever enter the negotiationsNow you can start again with the other two dealers on lease negotiations.Much simplier to just purchase for the lowest price you can negotiate.Best month to buy INMHO is December with 12/24 and 12/31 the two best days of the year. I bought my 06 on 12/31/05 and got a great deal.
Good luck

Dealers are having problems. So many people are scared out of their mind that they are not buying big ticket items. So you will see commission salesmen getting more pushy. They are trying to push cars so they can continue their style of living. It's very hard these days to live off commission. Thats why i got out off selling. I was good but it can be stressful and boring.soakgame wrote:thanks telco.. i'll keep the things you said in mind
i wasn't even looking to buy at all.. i just wanted to test drive.. at least now i know exactly what i want.. black on black is beautiful.. sport package is a necessity.. nav and premium would be nice too but not must haves
i was entertained by how hard the dealer was trying.. he even had a good lookin' female dealer (supposedly training) looking over his shoulder the whole time.. then at one time he brought in his manager to try and deal with me..
No, don't look at it that way. Not everyone has the time or the fortitude to deal with pushy car salesmen. Remember, car salesmen or saleswoman sell cars every day. Consumers buy rarely so the salespeople have an edge. If they don't sell they make little or no money. Number of vehicles sold count for them and not necessarly how much they got for each vehicle. If they have a list of interested consumers and they want to win that end of month contest they will call you. Thats how I ended up purchasing my 92 Lexus ES 300 back in December of 1991.That was the first year of the ES300 and Lexus dealers were offering no discounts off of sticker. In that first year you had a choice of a 5 speed manual or auto. I test drove the 5 speed at a number of dealers starting in October but they would not budge on price. One salesman kept calling every few weeks and on a Saturday in December he called & offered me the 5 speed for $28k which had a sticker price of around $32k or $33k. I gave him my credit card number and went back on Monday to pick it up. Had it for 14 years. The G is still a superior vehicle in my opinion.notalk wrote:

I never said what I paid. But, knowing I paid less than probably everybody else on this forum, I am not sure how I overspent. Why did you jump to that conclusion?wingFeather wrote:Overspending makes you feel good?
Wish I had those kind of connections. Would save me a lot of timenotalk wrote:

Why didn't you jump to the conclusion that if I was able to the have the managing partner personally order my car, that I had some sort of personal relationship with the managing partner and that personal relationship probably resulted in a beneficial purchase price?
