how many miles do ya have on your versa ? throttle body cleaning is good to do every 30k or so ...the engine air filter price is the norm for the dealer ....to easy not to do it your self thoughimma wrote: Forum readers, My dealer is suggesting 'Throttle Body Service' which is cleaning the front and back of throttle plate for $89.95. Is this bulls*** or not??? Also is the engine air filter hard to change?...Dealer wants $32.00 to change it. Thanks for your opinions and advice!!!
I paid $30 Bux for my Filter alone from the dealer. So if you are paying $32 installed that is fairly good.led hed wrote:u can also clean the throttle body yourself with the appropriate cleaner from the dealer. fyi i never cleaned the throttle body on my 2002 sentra and i put 275000kms on it until the precat finally ruined the engine.
$32 to change the air filter on your Versa?!! that's robbery!! the process takes about 2mins.
led hed wrote:oops, i thought that was JUST labor.
and really, $32 for the stock replacement? that's nuts.
i replaced my filter with a k&n drop in filter. $46 for the filter
I bought an engine filter at Canadian Tire last September and changed it myself.driversa wrote:If you can change the Air Filter yourself, you can get it at lubes-n-filters.wboil.com for around $12.00 + shipping. As usual it is always a ripoff at stealership.

Recently I bought an in cabin filter from a US online company. I ordered a few and one for the SE-R. Four filters, with shipping to Canada and the exchange rate cost me $42 CDNTHat's about $10 each filter.
I took the glove box out myself and changed it.
Dealership wanted $45 for just the filter ... Talk about a rip off !!! At least when I do it myself, I'm learning how to do it, and I know it's getting changed!
