Ok...Just wanted to get some others opinions...

I recently just bought a Used Altima Coupe...being as they are so new we had a tough time finding what we wanted, and ended up driving 10 hours to pick it up. Not a huge deal, just made a vacation out of it...but I wouldn't do it again...

Anyway, we agreed upon a price with the listed features, put a hold on the car and then drove down to sign the papers. When we got down there, I noticed the rear view mirror didn't have the compass like the flyer stated, and the dealer said they would look into it while we were signing the paperwork.

Anywho...we had a bad experience with the one guy...things took 3 hours to get them to stop pushing their loan on us when we already had one and I had just had enough...we got everything settled with the next guy (in their title department) and we were on our way finally!

I had completely forgot to go and get a final answer about the mirror missing the compass, and turns out it is all part of the auto dim/homelink/compass and costs $400 from the dealership.

I gave them a call today asking about it...and to see what we could do because it was on the listing...and yet not delivered...and he said it was the listing agents fault and nothing they could really do about it...

Do we have any lawyer types out there or dealership workers that could help me push to this and get some sort of a reimbursment to get the mirror at a local dealership?

the thing is when it's bought, it's kinda too late to ask for stuff from them. once they got their money, they don't give a rats a** about your used car.

nissan changed the flyer/brochure to include the fact that the compass wasn't avaible on some models like the ones with nav or certain 2.5S models for 2009 +. you could get them to send you one since you have an 08 and it definitly said that the compass was there like you said. it's better to contact nissan directly or try a different dealer if your car is under waranty.

Scan n post the "flyer".

If it says it on there, and has pics/vin you are entitled to it IMO...

Post these and then lets discuss calling corp.

Ok, I will do that tonight.

I have the online ad from Cars.com where I bought the car, and also the window sticker that was in the car when we picked it up. Both have it listed.

To keep it as a large enough JPG to see it, I will just post a link to the file instead of including it in my message.

http://geocities.com/curtieson/SCAN0013.JPG

It is on the right side, 6th one down under Interior.

Who do I go to? Do I just raise I stink? I will pay someone to pretend to be a lawyer and "call on my behalf" (Wanna make $20 LBC? Show me the mirror!). I have no way to push fear into them...as mcheddadi said...I bought my car, they could care less about me.

There is one hold up...in that the fine print says they can't be held responsible for items included or omitted...but that was why I asked about the item and they said they would look to make sure it was there so I signed the paperwork with the understanding it was there, so that is my foot I am standing on with their fine print.

http://www.conyersnissansucks.com is available.

Sometimes age plays a factor in this type of thing, id go there during the week with an older person (is dad available?) and speak with the sales manager... if he declines to give you a $200 part thats listed on the paperwork, and relies on the "fine print".. then tell him you will be back on saturday afternoon to cause a big fuss infront of other customers...

If he still doesnt comply, then come back on saturday, and cause a fuss, and do it 2-3 saturdays in a row... they should give you the mirror just to shut you up.

That is a good idea...but...one little catch...

Quote »and I ended up driving 10 hours to pick it up[/quote]It is in Atlanta, GA and I am in Ohio...I can't really do much besides over the phone...

Anyone here from Atlanta? I should check the map section...

You went to GA to pick it up??

Contact Nissan Corporate, Call the dealership and demand to speak with the sales manager... Call him every day if you have to...

Work the phones, you should be able to get this squared away IMO.

Yea...it is crazy...I know...the only two in Ohio were Silver and Red (both stripped, steel wheel packages) and then slim pickings through all the other states that Boarder Ohio.

Like I said...I would never go out of state THAT far again...2 hour max...

But, I am happy I did it the one time. We got a really good price and everything we could have asked for was listed on the sticker, most were even included in the car!

I kill myself sometimes.

I will call at lunch tomorrow and push this issue.

Breach of contract - you paid for a good/service that you did not receive.

I would cause a stink about it until you get the damn mirror for free.

Update from today

I gave them a call today, luckily the seller I was working with wasn't in so his partner sent me right to the Manager. I described it as we agreed upon a selling price with the options that were listed on the website and sticker and found out after the fact that that the one item was not included. They told me it would be the company that printed the flyer's fault, and that man was coming in tomorrow and he would talk to him. He did NOT sound like he would be pushing to help me out...so I think that might be a lost cause on that front, but I will just keep calling, border line harrassment.

Does anyone know how to decode the END of the VIN number to figure out what options came on the car when it came out of the factory? I am wondering if my car had the mirror and it was taken off...meaning I would be pre-wired for the replacement.

Does any know how to check easily for the wiring without taking off the headliner/digging out wires that I don't know where they go?

I hate to say it but you may be SOL. Before you sign the purchase agreement you have to notate on it anything extra that the dealership is doing for you or else they aren't liable for it except by conscience. Next, you are supposed to inspect the vehicle prior to taking delivery of it to ensure that its condition matches what is on the window sticker and purchase agreement. Since you didn't check it out, you accepted ownership of the vehicle in whatever condition it was in when you drove it home. Unless you have some way (i.e. dated pictures) to verify that you did not remove the missing parts after delivery you will have a hard time proving it wasn't on in the first place. If you want any chance of getting this resolved in your favor you should definitely involve the BBB.

Edit: Also for those saying things like it is a false advertisement... this isn't like when you walk to the store and there's a tag for something at $35 but its really $53. You can't demand to pay the $35 price in this case. They probably have some fine print terms for not being responsible for 'print inaccuracies' or stock variations not exactly matching print ads.

List the VIN or send it to me. I will try to check it Monday when I get to the office.
