ok....I purchased an '07 about 5 weeks ago.About 3 weeks ago I had the dealer install the stock rear spoiler on the car. The car came back with some tiny scratches, barely noticable unless you were looking for it, and the floor on the drivers side was dirty (really dirty..like dusty and footprints)

Damn, it's a brand new car...where to they get off treating customers this way. I paid cash for the car, and expected at least a tad of respect for the brand new car by the dealership.

I don't want then anywhere near the car!

I did my own oil change at 1250 miles, and I don't plan on taking it in for the 1500 mile service.

Overall, if I don't take the car in for my appointed service will this hurt me concerning warranty issues that might arise in the future, or future resale?(I'm pretty sure I've seen 1 or 2 post on the clutch/transmission issue for '07...well...more than 1 or 2)

People don't respect anything that's not theirs, and it's really pissed me off...so I don't really want to release the car to the dealer to have it screwed up by some idiot at a dealership.

If I never take it back, unless I have to, will this be detrimental to the future of the car?

Or do I cross my fingers, and hope for the best at the dealership and have my car trashed (...I mean serviced) by them regularly?

Thanks in advance!SO

I learned a long time ago, NEVER take your car for body work to a dealer. Most dealer body shops have marginal quality shop employees and if they are really good, they are hired by a professional body shop where the pay is better too. Dealers primary concern is to sell cars. Service and body work is secondary. I would speak with the dealer general manager and have them correct all scratches etc. to your satisfaction. I know exactly how you feel.

ok...we're all in agreement that the dealership sucks...

but I'm still wondering about the ramifications of NOT taking the car for scheduled maintenance to the dealer. Would it hurt me if I tried to trade the car in later???

"yeah...we would have given you more for the car as a trade in...but you can't prove that you maintained it correctly, so here's $100 for your well kept, low mile, blemish free 350z..."

or....

"yeah normally we handle that under warranty....but since you didn't keep your service up-to-date "with us"....we have to charge you a buh-zillion dollars for something we normally do for free....."

thanks! You guys ROCK!SO

SOLAR MAN: Its best to take your car in to ANY Nissan dealer for the sceduled maintenance as its logged in on the system computer. This protects you for any warranty issues that may arise, but if you keep the car after the warranty is up, take it anywhere you feel comfortable with. When you trade the car in, no one looks at where or when you took it in for service. They may pull up a car fax for body damage but generally they appraise the car on its current condition and mileage.

from my experience, the service writers are not warranty nazzi's, if you have a legit problem they'll get ti handles, however they will completely ignore any non critiical complaint, unless something has stopped working they just ignore it, now if you come in with a rod through the block, they are gonna ask questions, as it's not somethign that should happen on a 3 year old car thats had basic maintenance

as for resale, they could care less, and most buyers aren't educated enough to ask, and unless it's under 80k miles it's not likely to end up on a dealer lot

if you feel better doing it, log your service in the back of the book, and if you're selling to a private party years later, they might actually care
