hi All,

My friend has an 02 Maxima and while at the dealership for a scheduled service they told him that his shocks adn struts were worn and needed to be replaced. They said it wasn't urgent, but that it should be done soon.

They quoted him $920 for the fronts, and $700 for the rear. I thought that seemed high. What do you guys think?

can you guys recommend a place around the boston area that might be able to do it for less? Would you recommend a place like NTB or Midas?

Thanks in advance,Joe

Check and see if any oil is leaking out of the struts. Did they way WHY they needed replacing?

If so, clean it off with a rag and note it

The drive a little more and see if there is more oil. Of course thestrut might be dry now, no more oil to leak out

These guys are charging too much money and may have sqirted oilon the struts to make it look like they are leaking so you are doublechecking to see if the strut leaks.

Please get another opinion also

Thanks.

They said that they were just worn and needed to be replaced soon. the price seemed really high to me as well.

We will get a second opinion...can anyone recommend a place in Massachusetts?

WOW that price is astronomical !!!!! i replaced the front struts in my I35 with 138k on it for 380 and thats with good quaility japanese struts. With 138 k and original struts these parts were not even that worn out. Ur friend shud really think twice about this....

The last time I went to the dealership for service was when they told me my rear struts needed replacing. I was quoted $750 for the job.

I started looking around and decided on Tokico HPs and Eibach springs (even though I didn't need them).

I got both of those and a local tire shop to install them and align everything for under $450.

Final Score:

Infiniti:

2 rear struts=$750

Performance parts store and tire shop:

2 high performance rear struts and 4 lowering springs=$450

Hmmm which should he choose

i agree. i got the tokico illumina kit (springs and all) for $600. i had the suspension, FSB, RSTB, and RASB installed for $300. so, $900 for basically the whole suspension setup minus bushings and other such parts. aftermarket FTW.
