We were to pick up my wife's new car today ( 07 Red Versa SL, CVT and Tech pak) when we got a call around 3:00pm from dealer who called to say that the car had been destroyed in an accident while coming from the port to the dealer.

We have been trying to buy a Versa for more than 12 weeks and finally we though that this ordeal was over....My first thought was that they were full of it but we drove to the dealer and saw it....still had the white plastic on it but had crushed in front end and most of the air bags (sides and driver) were deployed...been told the driver will be fine

The Dealer has offered a rental for free while we wait which will be until about Mid Feburary.

This car has been the biggest pain in the a$$ to buy. Our first dealer was nothing short of incompetent and While these guys have been much better their hands seem tied.

Worst of all most of the Christmas presents for my wife were car related, and now have no context and most can't be returned

That really sucks, I'd hate having to wait that long for a new car. I hated waiting a week for mine, I get so impatient. Given the circumstances, I think they should find the best way to expedite your car's shipment, whether it is to direct you to a different dealer or give someone else's V, who hasn't been waiting three months, if there is one of the same criteria as your own.

Surprised NNA can't do something.... I bet they NEVER guessed the Versa would be this popular.

Hey NISSAN REPS - I know you guys are reading this. We're out here promoting your products, supporting your brand, and taking care of your customers.

How about if NNA gets its act together and takes care of this supply issue for our members?

My wife wants to point out this little factoid...

You'll at least have a better chance of getting a less glitchy Versa if you have to wait again. Plus you'll get one with the side airbag improvement refit.

Personally, I couldn't bear waiting any longer if I were you. If you have the patience to do it, well, your sainthood is waiting for you, down the hall, second door on the left.

Dude.....I said the exact same thing to my wife...we just can't buy a break with this car, everyway we turn a wall seems to pop up.

We even found out that the only other similar car in western canada had also been destroyed by a sales person at another dealership and that car has been in their garage for over 3 months due to lack of parts

It probably means that you should be getting a Super Black Versa instead of Red Alert.

The only other available SL in Western Canada is dark grey and our dealer isn't sure if he can get it, as it may already be sold....lots of S's around though.

Consider yourself fortunate this happened BEFORE you took possession.

I know a guy who bought a brand-new BMW Z-4 sport car. It had a few things wrong with it, so he dropped it off at the dealer for service. A couple hours later, the car was in the way at the dealership, so the service guy told his lot man to move the car somewhere else.

Two hours later, the guy had an accident with the BMW. On the freeway.

Not only did the guy I know have to wait about a month to get his BMW back, they left it in the lot without the top and it got soaked in the rain. Afterwards, when he tried to get them to do some warranty repairs, the dealership refused...said the problem was due to the accident, and wasn't covered by the warranty.

Jonker Nissan in Surrey has an Ebony SL w/CVT and Tech package. So does Kelowna Nissan. King George Nissan in Surrey has both an Ebony and a White SL. Morrey Nissan in Coq has a Red SL

You will probably have to call the dealers yourself. But it only took me about 3 min to find these.

Wow... You definitely have more patience than I do! Sure, a rental car sounds like a good offer, but as your mention of car-related gifts reminds us: you can't make a rental car your own.

It's almost too bad you didn't already own the car, because then you could at least make the dealership find you an immediate replacement from somewhere instead of bumping right back into the line.

That dealership would be out of business if that happened to me. Not under warranty? Well then I guess the little punk who took my car for a joyride gets to pay for it all. Either that or the dealership gets sued for a whole lot more to drive the point home. That is utter BS. If I EVER caught wind of anyone at a dealership driving my car anywhere off the lot without my consent, I'd have their job quicker than you can say "fired." I gave my tech premission to drive the Maxima ONCE: when they needed to confirm an alternator failure (which is a major pain). Aside from that, I watch my odometer. I am the paranoid type who would install a gps module if I had a very valuable or desirable car, just in case of things like this happening.

My Versa was on the lot in July so I didn't wait to order or buy. But... if I had to wait anywhere near as long as some do on this forum I would have moved on to another dealer to buy something else. I love the versa BUT NOT THAT MUCH.

I'm sorry to hear that. That really sucks. So close to getting it. I applaud the dealer for stepping up and offering the rental. Even though you can't make it your own, you'll have something to get you around town. You should post the dealer's name because these are the type of dealers that we should do business with.

I agree with AZ, Nissan's viewing this board. I have a friend who's a Mod for a Subaru forum and he says that on his board every state has at least 5 users who are actually dealers and that they are reporting info on the board back to their superiors. He knows of 2 who work in Subaru PR. I also agree that Nissan should step up in this situation, especially since the customer nor the dealer has any control over this accident. I seriously doubt that every red CVT, configured this way, and destined for Canada has been spoken for. The first one available should be sent to you. I say make a complaint with Consumer Affairs in phone and letter. Get your dealer involved with trying to get the car quicker than that.

Again talking about a canadian here. Their SL's have ABS standard, so the one that was wrecked DID have ABS.

Thanks for the headsup...I called Morrey about the red SL and it has been sold for a while, but it's still on the lot because the buyers are having trouble with the financing or something like that.

Black is out of the question as I've had several black cars and the paint always looks awful a year or two down the road due to swirl marks from washing...I'd buy white but my wife wants Red and its going to be her car....sooo.

We decided to have the the dealer bring in a light grey V from the interior but I'm a bit weary...It's probably been sitting under 3 ft of snow over the last month...and the dealer won't move at all on the price. Which seems such BS beacuse this isn't really even the car she wants....at this point I rather buy something on a lot and save a few dollars.

My wife and I are both extremely stressed from work, the last few weeks have been hell and she can't make up her mind on whether to wait or get the colour she doesn't want.

WHAT? Take the free rental car (if that offer is on the table) and WAIT. I know that sucks in the short term but we are talking about a few months VERSAS (sorry could not help it) a few years with a color she doesn't want. I know that really sucks, but this is what I tell people. Think of your life as a metre stick. You will probably live to the 70's maybe 80's and beyond. Think of an entire year as a cm on that stick (and we are not even talking that long in your case) and you begin to see that in the grand scheme of life, it's not eternity.

What would really be smart is to take the rental and save up the $$ that you would be putting into payments to take some $$ off the principal once the car you really want arrives. However if that offer is long gone and you are in need of a car, they should at leats cut you a deal. But when the car you want is a car that everyone else wants, that may not happen...
