I had an injector go bad. I took it to the dealer since I was not set up yet to undertake something of that degree. The previous owner I guess had to replace the #1 injector a good number of times. I decided that I would spend the little extra and get the new style injectors in the hope it would last longer. The new ones are still 370cc, I also had him put in new PCV valves. Mind you the car ran good before the injector died, but now it won't idle right. Sometime it will be steady for a bit, but normally it start to go up some or way down to 400rpm then jumps back up or dies. If you are sitting at a light and give it a little gas and let go it will drop right off and die. It runs and sounds OK at times but seems to hesitate on acceleration and sound like its missing maybe. It sounded as if it was trying to back fire the other day as I got on the throttle. The ECU is up to date. You can smell gas a little here and there but that happened some before the work is done. They can't fix it now after the fact they said its too old for them to really know what to do, funny since the guy who worked on it has been there since 1991, so what the hell did they do then? Also tried to blame there were to many add on which is a load of crap. Please help. Any ideas? Is there a way to diagnose myself if it is the injectors? Would this happen if he wired some backwards? HELP, HELP, HELP!!!!!I never take my cars to a dealer to work on, but I can't find anyone here in Denver to will touch it. If you know of some one I would love to have that info please.
Thanks in advance for your help and time.
Jim

Go to the "everything you need to know about the z32 and download the FSM. It tells you how to test the injectors. Believe me you will use it a lot.

What part of Colorado? Dealers don't know much about these cars and very well could have either installed the wrong injector, used cheap gaskets, and could have installed the plugs incorrectly.

We do have a couple of good resources in Denver.

Could you send me a list or give me the names of some of these resources. I would like to get it running properly but I dont know much and am learning as I go. I have the wiring diagram so I will check they didn't get the wires crossed and I am trying to find in the FSM where the bit on how to check the installation of the injector was done correectly. I could use any help I can.
Thanks

These cars have been out of production for 20 years! 20! Pretty much no dealer knows what to do with them, or anything not OBD2.

I live in Golden near Denver. I bought the injectors so I know they are right. He didn'tpull the rail and iI had given them the Upgraded seals for that so that pissed me off. I dont know if he crossed the wires one one or more also not sure he seated them correctly. I got the upgrade of rings and such from Z1. I listened to the motor yesterday and when Idling correctly it was ok but when it started messing up there was a fast clicking sound that seamed to be coming from the # 5 or 6 injector.i pulled the plug of each coil and the all made a difference so I think that means all the injectors are working i think? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated

Look on Twinturbo.net, look for member Woody75, his name is Tim. He is a great guy and very knowledgeable in these cars. He would be your best bet, problem is, people know he knows his stuff and between work, family, and other cars he is generally pretty busy. But he always has time to help a fellow Z member out. He lives in Westminster, so he isn't too far from Golden.

I would look at it, but I live in Parker and usually busy during the day and weekends lately. Talk to Tim, he may know other guys he trust.

I know of Tim He has no Time. I asked even he could just take a few minutes to look at it and see if it is something I could fix or it would wait till he had an opening. he never replied and not the first time. He got mad because I was asking questions. I said I would pay for his time but it didn't matter I guess my questions were stupid to him but I can't help I don't know much about these cars and am doing my best to learn. I keep reading and learning but still I did something wrong and he won't even reply. wish I knew what it was I did. I am in the process of making arrangement to send it to Z1. I was just hoping I could get guidence so I might be able to fix it enough that I could drive it regular till it goes to Z1. if you ever have time let me know I don't mind paying for your time especially if it helps me learn about and how to fix this car. you can reach me at 30three-957-five 233
thanks

Let me see what I can do. Personally, Pitstop in Phoenix and Specialty Z in California are a lot closer than Z1. Specialty Z would be the absolute first place I would send it before Pitstop, and especially Z1, customer service isn't the best there(my opinion).

Tim is a good guy, I know he has had some family stuff going on, but it is what it is.
