Ok, I called up and made an appointment for 7am today to have my TPMS light fixed and also to have them look at the oil that accumlates in the crease in my shifter boot to the left of the shifter. So far it's 11:15am. :-( I called at 10:15am and was told the tech is still looking at it. I did bring in a print copy of the TPMS thread for the mechanic and I'm 95% sure this is the first Versa that he's worked on. But still, this dealer has mechanics that strictly work on Nissans and mechanics that just work strictly on GM products. I don't see how it can take 4+ hours to fix or at least reset.

I think I got screwed when the service guy said "When would you like to pick up your car?" I said "Um, when it's fixed." Maybe because it's warranty work they figured they would save it for last. If that's the case why did I need to be up at the a$$ crack of dawn to bring in my car! ARGH!! Sorry, had to vent. We'll see what he finds when they are done. Shop closes at 2pm so they have 3 hours left.

TPMS = This Part Manufactured Stupidly

Ok, I"m done now.

So far every time I've taken in my V, except for the mud guard installation, they have assigned it to a junior tech who bangs his head on it for a while then asks a senior tech for help. The senior tech then basically starts from scratch.

When they "reregistered" my wheel sensors with the computer, it took an hour of quoted warranty labor.

Of course, the problem occurred again 1200 miles later... so there has to be a fault in the system somewhere.

The first time, I dropped it off at ~10 AM and they had to keep the car overnight. They hadn't encountered this problem before...they had to go though all the "obvious" stuff first (put air in the tires, take it for a test drive, etc.), then they found they didn't have the codes to allow their diagnostic computer to interface with the Versa computer.

The second time, it was much quicker. Dropped off at noon, picked up at 3 PM.

If (when) the problem reoccurs, TELL the service people you'd been in before with the same problem. We need the dealers to lean on Nissan for a permanent fix.

Well I'm sure I'll be back with the TPMS issue but at least now it's "fixed". Funny thing is that I got my car back after 5 hours at the dealer. The service guy says "Long story short we had to re-register the sensors with the computer." Oh really? Isn't that what I had printed out and highlighted on page 1 of the TPMS forum thread that I handed to you???

Well the light came on at around 1500 miles and now I am at 2800 miles and 4 1/2 weeks later and I am still waiting on the part to get in! they say that nissan is making them to order, also the techs didnt really seem to know exactly how to check it so 3 test drives and many head scratchs later they told me they will call me when the part gets in, on the plus side I am getting used to the little yellow light being on all the time!

A little piece of black electrical tape works just fine. Cut off a piece that's square, sit in the driver's seat with the engine running and the light on, and stick the tape on the clear plastic in front of the gauge. Works pretty nice.

Nissan should offer it as an accessory. :-)

Mine is a small dealer and small shop:

Clifford - ManagerGregg - Service WriterDarryll - Parts ManagerTimmy - Senior Tech (does most warranty work)Roger - Oil changes2 other techs whose names I don't know

One oil change bay, 4 lifts (including the oil change bay), one front end alignment set-up.

I pulled in the shop to get my TPMS reset (no appointment - literally pulled into the shop) .... waited longer for Timmy to get back from lunch than I did for him to reset it ! Then Cliff, with some kind of monitor still hooked up (under the dash), took my car for a "test drive". He was gone longer than it took Timmy to reset it. I actually think he just wanted to drive my car !!

I just LOVE living in a small (for now) town in the south !!! I honestly don't think I would get the same service at one of the BIG dealers in Nashville.

I'm upset.

I printed out the TPMS thread and hubby took it to the shop (mostly to get the airbag/seat belt issue resolved) and showed them the fix. Nope. They don't have a fix. Hubby suggested downloading it. Nope. There wasn't a downloading fix. Hubby pointed that OTHER Nissan dealerships are fixing them. Nope, they don't know nothin' about it.

THEN, the salesman told hubby that the Titans were having trouble with that as well.

So I think I'm going to call Customer Service. 'Cause nobody seems to know nothin'.

I called my dealership today and told them about the TSB and the problem I'm still having....silence....I swear I heard crickets.....and then finally: "Sir, we don't order parts just because some web site told you to tell us too." (Redneck! ) "You'll have to schedule your car back into our shop (2 hours away) for us to look at your car again. Have you checked the pressure in ALL of your tires? That light only comes on if you've got one goin' flat."

I asked for the Service Manager....after 20 minutes on hold....I hung up....

Guess I'll "haf ta" drive it down there to them so they can order parts and waste another 4 hours of my life a few weeks from now.

I guess this isn't always the most correct and mature way to handle things

but, pitch a fit

*shrugs* always works for me

i am female though

twirling my hair around my finger and smiling usually works too

Doesn't work on everyone. When I worked in a retail service environment, I did the opposite... if someone complained and threw a fit, I worked slower. I didn't get paid enough to put up with that kind of crap.

On the other hand, the customers who were kind, polite and respectful got special treatment from us.

Yeah thats true too

i worked at a clothing store in the mall, and when customers started complaining and getting loud, my boss would bust my balls (so to speak) about working faster

*shrugs* guess its the place

but of course! Always be nice a courteous :P

I'm with EV on this. As a Network Support Engineer, people screaming at me just get me all upset and then I work slower as well....mostly because I'm trying to fume it off. On the other hand, when we had an outage that had went on for 12 hours, the Department that went out and brought me dinner....had their stuff fixed first.

I hate the way they treated me as well, but I sort of understand it and I shouldn't have complained about it. I won't give people computer advice over the phone, because if you don't do EXACTLY what I tell you to, or I don't have all of the information, you can make your problem worse. I'm not going to order a $200 part for a system if I'm not sure its needed.

That said, I have had the car in there once for this problem and they should have work order notes about it.

Sorry...didn't mean to get this topic way off track.....the don't let me out much.
