Kieth -- I called Courtney back just to compare your quote. That $2784 you were quoted is pretty good, assuming it is the Infiniti ELITE waranty with the ZERO deductable. Courtney thinks you were probably quoted a $100 deductible as that's what most dealers are quoting these days - so check for WHAT type (Infiniti Elite or other 3rd party) and WHAT deductible amount ($0 or $100).

As prices for these warranties went UP since you posted on 12/1, her current price for your vehicle on a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty (which would take you out to 2014 and 96,000 miles) is $2,200 for a $100 deductible and about $2800 for the zero deductible. Check back with your dealer to see what his NEW prices are, and buy it BEFORE your car crosses over 40,000 miles. Courtney's number is in the previous post if you want to call her. Otherwise you have ammo to go back to your dealer with -- good luck.

So I just called courtney and got an additional discount because I am a Costco member so my 5yr/60,000 mile warranty (extending my original by 43 months) cost me $2050 with a $100 deductible, so I signed up for it today, so my trek is finished, Courtney is very nice to deal with, The info I got from her seemed a bit more genuine than some of the other people that I talked with. My warranty would last until I had 96,000 miles on my car if I were to drive it that far.

How much was the Costco discount?

I told you guys almost a month ago about calling Courtney @ IOS, I realized that she pumped the least sunshine up my skirt, after paying her a visit in person while vacationing in Phoenix.

Now, how about Sam's Club discount?

the costco discount brought the price down from $2288 to $2050 so it must have been around $238, or maybe the price she gave me with the $100 deductible was originally $2200 , I just don't remember exactly where she started out. The discount was at least $150 then. Ah, some peace of mine till January 2014

Members need to refresh their Actuarial Science Education [how insurance policies] are priced.http://www.soa.org/

Warranties are just insurance policies either internally financed or created by a 3rd party.

The advantage the car manufacturer has is that they have a contractual labor discount with dealer. The dealer has agreed to fewer hours per repair than a paying customer would be charged based on a gigantic volume discount.

Third party service insurance policies try to get a discount from repair shop and require the use of used or non oem parts and many foolish shops go for it and many shops don't.

The technican gets stiffed paid for fewer hours! But some pay is better than no pay.

How the oem Nissan insurance can be priced lower yet deliver more to customer.

On a very big job like engine or transmission Nissan may drop ship new parts to dealer so dealer gets less parts profit than retail sales, again saving Nissan money.

I want to thank all that have posted here because it helped me sort out how to proceed with this issue. Sharing information was immensely helpful and I think, (because of all your input) I was able to select what I considered the best possible choice for what I needed. As a result I was able to extend the factory warranty by 43 months to 60 months total from today , from now and I believe that's the best I could have done. My hats off to you all, and yes, Courtney from Scottsdale was a really good person to sign up with. After all , peace of mind is worth a lot.

New to the site b/c I just joined the family. Picked up an '08 M35 this past Mon. It had 11.3K miles on it and it is a CPO. The finance guy was trying to sell us an "Elite Extended Protection Plan" on top of the CPO warranty. The booklet he gave us was the "Elite E.P.P", but he called it the "Wrap" and that's what it said on the form. Has anybody else have a dealer call the Elite a Wrap? Coverage, as I understand it, is below. Please correct if you see something wrong.

From what he was saying the Wrap has much more coverage (compared to the CPO warranty) and a $0.00 deductable, plus another 12 months of coverage. No additional mileage, but I'm not too worried about that b/c the wife doesn't drive more than 8-10k miles a year. He wanted $1600 and we can still buy it up until this Fri. I'm going to give Courtney a ring and see what she can quote.

After all of the repair costs on the BMW we just got rid of, we're pretty much set on buying an extended warranty.

TIA

The Certified "Wrap" is only available when you purchase a CPO Infiniti. Like you said, you'll get an extra year of coverage (84 months / 100k miles from in-service date), a $0 deductable, but you also get expanded component coverage, expanded Roadside Assistance, and is transferable if you decide to sell your car.

My stance is that if you intend to keep the car that long, get it. Those last couple of years is where you're going to get the most use out of your warranty.

I'd get it if I was getting a new car.

I spoke with several dealers and got a number of estimates which led me to believe that extended warranties that are purchased sooner for less time coverage are cheaper in the long run. I was quoted $2250 for a 5yr/60,000 warranty with my car with 36,000 miles. My extended warranty would add 43 months to my factory warranty.(I have 17 months left on my factory warranty) I also believe (if memory serves)that if I waited till my factory warranty were to expire I could get a 48 month extended warranty for around $3100. So in this example an additonal 5 month coverage would cost around $900 extra. This is a synopsis of sorts of several conversations I've had. There is also the possibility that prices could go up or down based upon repair records. There are advantages and not for waiting till the factory warranty ends( more time cost more) Not waiting means less coverage for a bit less. I'm inclined now to buy the best quoted deal on an infiniti elite policy that I can find in the next few days. With the price of ultimate repairs for expensive electronics etc high, caution is the order of the day.

So here are the numbers that I got. I think the second and third ones quoted an Elite extended warranty not the "wrap" for a CPO even though I told them it was a CPO. I bought the car from #1. 1-3 are all in Houston. #4 is from Stacy at Infiniti of Scottsdale (Courtney wasn't available). I'll be buying from her. They do have 0% financing for 6months (10% down, 5 payments), but it has a $100 processing fee.

#1 wrap (84 months/100k from in service) - $1,600#2 (+72 months / + 82k miles from date of extd warranty purchase) - $3,278 ($0 deductable) or $2,726 ($100 deductable)#3 (+72 months / + 82k miles from date of extd warranty purchase) - $1,976 ($0 deductable)#4 warp (84 months/100k from in service) - $899

A question that I have just posed to Courtney is whether it might make sense to start an extended policy at about 5 years of ownership, somewhere between the cut-off day for full coverage and engine/drive-train coverage(assuming the 4/6 year points will come before the corresponding mileage cut-off points). Thus I would have a short period of time exposure in exchange for what appears to me to be overlapping coverage. Any thoughts? Perhaps the cost of insurance goes up with the mileage so that it would defeat this strategy.
