From our Qx4 forums, some one asked:

Well My parts guy said that there is not a retro kit or harness available to place the nav system in a 1997 QX4. However I just ran across a portable system that works totally by voice ( no screen ) and you can take it from car to car, don't quote me on the price but I believe I heard $2300 but if your interested I can check further, sorry I couldn't be more help.:ylsuper

I'm sure someone could do it, but it would be very expensive and alot of custom fabrication. The factory increases the pricing on the pieces when they are bought as replacement parts. They do this in order to sell the system with the new cars at the point of 1st purchse. It would easily cost $5,000 plus just for the parts.-Joe

Why do that when you can get a Magellan system for less than that. It has a small screen that mounts easily into the car/truck and is one of the best systems available. If you've ever rented a Hertz car and got "Never Lost" that is the system. They are as good as any stock system, ableit not built into the dash and the screen isn't as large as many stock systems.

I can only imagine what Infiniti would charge for that system ala carte, like 1/2 the value of the car! My 84' 300ZX digital dash was priced at $1,800 for replacement and the digital temp was priced at a grand....a DVD nav, OMG!
