hello my fellow Nissan fanatics, this is my first post.i have been looking for a good deal on a motor for my s13 and i think i found it but you be the judge...

$600Red top SR20 w/ transmission

needs:gasket setringsbearings

comes with:HKS BOVstage 2 clutchand a few others but i cant remember because im tired

1) are the rings and bearings hard to change?2) are they expensive?

this will be my first non-KA engine swap and ive never worked on an SR

If this is a real post then this could be a good deal, but realize that you are more than likely going to open it up and find out needs more. But its not a bad deal if its a solid block, transmission and head.

If you are asking about whether rings and bearings are hard to change, you are better off buying a motorset that needs nothing. With parts, machine shop costs, and either labor cost or time, you will be spending about the same amount. I priced out machine shop cost one time and it was around 1000 dollars. Then add on parts costs.

600 dollars is really not bad for what it comes with. Just the bov if its a real hks costs about 150 dollars or so. Clutch is another 200-250. If you are comfortable with building a engine or know someone who does, it would be a great buy.

Not a bad deal, but if I were to take the whole bottom end apart to replace bearings and rings I would get the block cleaned, honed, tanked. and the crank polished/balanced etc. So after all that work it would probably cost about the same price as a whole swap, but you're pretty much getting it brand new, so if I was in your position I would do def do it as long as it's the whole block, head, and transmission and you know you can rebuild it yourself

I would do it. The blow off valve alone retails for $250. Changing the rings and bearings is not that hard, just make sure you set the timing right when you put it back together, torque everything down to specs and you are good to go!
