So I am having what I believe to be an alternator problem. The other day I was cruising along through town and my car started acting funny whenever I would let off the gas. Then it started hesitating and not wanting to engage when I was trying to accelerate almost like it was running on 2 or 3 cylinders. In the midst of all this the speedo started spazzing and the climate control was flicking on and off. I pulled into my buddy's place and not a second after I let off the gas my z died. My understanding leads me to believe that it is a bad alternator but I just wanted to make sure it couldn't be another commonly occurring z problem like a bad connection...

It does sound like a bad alternator. Usually when the electronics in the car start acting weird (like the gauges and such), that means the alternator is bad. And yes, the alternator is a common problem for Z's, I have had to replace mine twice so far.

If going used....Z1motorsports.com

If new I'd just hit up a local Autozone or if you want OEM I would call ConceptZperformance.com and ask for Coz.

Core charges may apply so keep that in mind.

Yeah, the alternators on our vehicles are in an unfortunate place and get douced with PS fluid and grim quite often causing premature failure. Sucks but it goes with the territory.

I gotta say thats a pretty vague discription to go and buy an alternator based on, after all this what happens when you turn the key? completely dead? if you jump it will it start and run till you pull the cables off or perhaps a minute or 2 after? if so by all means go get an alternator, and autozone will test them for free
