Basic Problem

I got a new high output alternator put in, a new battery, Optima, made for long cycles, and the most life I can get out of the car is a week of battery power sitting by itself. This had problems since as long as I can remember.

Details about my ZI mounted the battery in the rear for weight distribution and it runs fine, but there is no change in the longetivity since I had it in the front.

I also had the battery wires redone and checked because of corrosion. Half the reason I moved the battery to the rear is to avoid atmospheric corrosion.

I do have an alarm system, and its very basic. I have a ton of add ons I need to put on for security, but the sensors I am adding will draw more power. I have barely enough as it is. I'm already going to do a battery back up for my alarm system because this is getting dangerous to leave the Z without security where I live. That at most will buy only a few days.

What I have doneThis is what I did to test my fuses:

Connected a 12-volt bulb across the positive and negative battery terminals to test the bulb and the battery. It glowed well, then I removed the negative battery cable and connected the bulb inbetween the negative battery cable terminal clamp and the negative battery terminal. I tested it, it continued to glow brightly. I then started removing fuses one-at-a-time until the offending electrical component is identified by the bulb dimming.

What I got, was I came to a fuse, my alarm started goin off softly.I would assume it naturally does this, but could it be draining power that much? I had circut city do the install, I had them recheck it all too already.

I pulled the passive belt 7.5A, dimmed baddd, you could hear the motors go crazy in the doors and the bulb flickered. After having it our less than 4 days, the battery was dead again. One could assume by logic taking out the passive seat belt fuse made it worse... and the seat belt sensors were just naturally reacting when I pulled the fuse. Or there is another problemOther questions relatedHas anyone put and aftermarket alarm in and experienced interference between the OEM and Aftermarket systems?

What should I do now??Should I try yet another battery in case I have the wrong type or something? (my battery now is an optima marine battery approved for auto usage under long storage conditions and can withstand many recharges from dead)

I feel like kicking in the dash everytime I sit in the damn car now

gettin sick of the Z and its little crap...

Plain and simple. You have a grounding problem somewhere.

lol plain and simple... Not to me man

So your sure its grounding?

Help me out here widebody, how do I find it?

I thought the way I was trying was the most effective way to detect faulty connections. I found two connections that gave me some flack. I'm gonna check my rear battery grounding again, but what else should I do????

12V...it's going somewhere and not staying where it should..if it was grounded properly you'd have no problems. You'd need an ohm meter and some time to search grounds. If a connection is grounded properly you'll have near 0 ohms reading on the meter. Check around any possible grounds. Many times it's either an aftermarket stereo, alarm, or lighting. Also check all exposed wires for cracks or bare wire not sleeved as it might be shorting...you never know.

um idriveattz32 go on about that failing OEM alarm thing, how would I go about checking that piece over.

Also Widebody, you got a link or tutorial on how to check grounds with the ohm meter? Care to elaborate? I don't mean to push you, but the Z is pushing me lol I checked the grounds my way and 2 fuses came up in my little rig I mentioned above
