Hello All:

My temp gauge just dropped dead, just stays at the bottom (for 99% of the time). Once in a while it gets up just so it can go back down again to sleep. For a short while (before this started happening) it used to jump around (within its normal temp range). One day it quit, gave up, and wanted to rest from there on.

Coolant level seems ok, though I am not sure about the possiblity of air bubbles, but would air bubbles be able to slam down that temp needle 99% of the time?

I am thinking I need to replace the engine temperature sensor (the black one) on the top, toward the front of the engine?

How does the coolant temp sensor (on the lower radiator hose) affect the temp gauge?

Thank you for your suggestions!

Mine did that when I got my 240, it was the sensor on top of the engine, it was actually red. The only problem with me was that I chipped the connector, so I had to smash the sucker in to get it to read.

it is the temperature switch (sensor on the top of the intake manifold) this is the sensor that controls the gauge
