The right passenger window has died on my '95 Q (177k). Can't complain much. It sounds as though the motor is still kicking on, but the glass won't come up. Prior to death I heard a faint grinding sound, like there was grit in the system. What should I expect? How much $ to repair?

Your plastic regulator has failed. It's the part that connects the motor to the window. It's been a while since I bought one, maybe $100. Labor could be tough if you don't DIY. Remove the door panel and speaker and you can work through the holes to R&R the piece. Mark the position of the slotted bolts to reduce alignment problems.

It's an easy job for an experienced tech, probably no more than one hour of billable labor.

I watched mine being replaced... wouldn't want to try it myself.

My '94 Q is in the same boat. I found one on eBay, and am bidding on it, for a DIY replacement.

I'll take some pics, and send them to you, as long as you don't bid against me.:D
