I was reading this in my local paper and saw the pics. Looks like an Y50 M

Dang...That car is pretty destroyed. How is the driver doing? The main damage looks like it was more passenger centered

From the looks of it it was an 08+ awd model. The fuel lines do run up the right inner frame rail and in theory a severe enough impact could assist a "thermal incident" but I have never seen that. It appears that the operator may not have made it through that give the amount of white sheeting covering the wreckage.

Do you have a link to the article? It doesn't look like it's from the US but I could be wrong, but it looks like there might be an interesting story behind it.
