**Dead Dash lights and Speedo. Searched**

I haven't had dash lights since I bought this car. It had an after market stereo in it at one time and it was removed before I bought the car. I pulled the little whie box under the fuse panel to look for a burnt out circuit. I can't see anything obvious but here are a few pics. Maybe someone can see some thing I can't.Newb.

Find the illumination ground wire in the cd player/receiver wire harness. I forget what the exact colors are, but it should be singled out already from the harness that plugs into the deck. Take that wire and ground it. You won't be able to use the dimmer for the lights, but they should work.

Its about time...I took my speedo cluster and did the " cap. fix". Now every thing including my HUD works. Its the little things in life like being able to tell how fast I'm driving, that makes me happy. The digi speedo and the HUD is very Knight Rider.

just out of curiosity, did you ever check the dimmer switch if your cluster lights were out?

I never checked the dimmer switich. I tested the cap with my sodering iron and the gauge came to life. I did the cap replacement and put everything back together. HOw would I go about testing the dimmer switich? All I know now is that I have all my dash lights and my speedo works too.

Pardon me for asking a (possibly?) stupid question...but wtf is a "cap. fix"? I'm having this same problem with my '93 Fastback's gauges. I haven't been able to get her running yet...so I don't know about the speedo...but I do know for sure that the gauges aren't lighting up. If you could post exactly what you did that fixed it, or at least link to a HOW-TO or something, I'd be VERY appreciative.
