dead battery shifting and window auto up

A few days ago i left my radar detector on and didn't drive for a few days so my battery died today, which prompted me to try to move the car out of the garage to get jumped. I was surprised to find that even with the key in the slot i couldn't budge the shifter.. is it supposed to be that way or am I missing something?

also, if im not mistaken, our windows can go automatically down with the second stop on the window button AND it can go automatically up with a little harder pull on the same key. After i installed hid's and disconnected the battery once the auto up stopped working.. any ideas?

i think he means its an automatic. there is a shift lock hole with a little cap over it. remove the cap and i believe you push something thin down in there and this allows the shifter to be moved.
