Dead alternator? Or bad wiring causing drainage?

So one day just before work i open up my car door and i didnt see the light, it was total darkness, nothing seemed to turn on... I figured my battery died so i wait till morning and buy a new battery. Car worked fine for about 2 or 3 days and then the same thing happened. Note that my car NEVER DIED WHILE DRIVING.

This is the first time this has happened to me since i bought the car about a year ago, although i started to notice my car not wanting to starting up in an instant throughout the cold weather during winter, it stayed that way throughout spring and only seemed to get worse. Maybe something busted causing a bigger leak and slowly started leaking onto my alternator till it finally crapped out on me about a month ago?

I cant say for sure, but absolutely nothing would turn on, no lights from the dash, glove compartment, footing, nothing. Also i think another problem is when i took my trunk apart to clean everything, i took a bag out of the compartment behind the seats(the area above the rear wheel well) Im assuming the previous owner kept the bag there to keep the unused speaker wires from being exposed touching any metal which in return would cause a battery drain? Im starting to regret i should've took out those amp and speaker wires out from the very start, because my car died a couple days after that.

Im going nuts, i have to move out in a few days and the Z is just sitting there. Im wondering if i should just dump my car or tow it to a new place so i work on it because it has been leaking from the front and the rear of the engine, the last time i went under my car after winter to change my oil it was pretty damn nasty.

I'm assuming it's bad wiring, but you can never be completely sure about what a previous owner did as far as electrical is concerned. Measure voltage drain on the battery, then disconnect the alternator and measure again. On my first car, I had my monster cable rub through the plastic shielding on the wire and short out on my firewall, but the car did die while driving. If there's a bad rectifier or regulator in the alternator, that can cause a drain while the car is off, but allow the engine to still run on alternator charge. You're on the right track, but electrical issues are hard to track down.
