First off, I HAVE checked compression, 0 in number 3 cyl. So we stuck an antenna down the spark plug hole and yes the piston moves. When the car runs it does not blow smoke. Is it common for a valve to burn? Any suggestions would help. I will be ripping the head off in a couple days unless some body has another idea. Thanks:help

ergh. 0 compression.

this happened to me on a boat engine I had last summer. I took the block apart to find out that the piston was completly SHATTERED - as in there were huge peices I could pull out from the ports. Yours is probably not as bad, and it could be easially be burnt valves (although I think you'd get more than 0 compression with burnt valves...?), but you're gonna have to pull the head off either way so I guess it doesnt even really matter.

Alright, here's my story: So after an agravating days work I ripped the head off my ka. Looking at the head everything looks okay. So I examine my pistons... "are the pistons spose to be dished for the exhaust valves?"... "NO!" The way i figure it is as follows. My timing guide wore through, as is common on these engines. In doing so the valve timing got retarded just enough so the exhaust valve hit the piston. Any body who drives like me gets pissed off at their car and revs the **** out of the engine anytime it's raining and they're taking a corner, so this caused the ex valve in the number three cyl to bend just enough for it not to break or **** up a piston but enough for it not to seal. In conclusion my engine will have custom pistons dished to clear the exhaust valves. And a new head.
