Hey Guys, just needed some advice/help on what I should do from here on out.

As some of you might know, I have a 3 week old altima coupe 2.5s with 800 miles on her. Being the weekend, I went through my routine cleaning and waxing session, after which I tried starting her up to park in amore comfortable spot and yes, it didn't start up. My initial reaction was that I probably killed the battery by playing the system for an hour while I was waxing without starting the car up. I got a friend to jump it but the car still wouldn't start, per se. The lights turn on fine without dimming, and when I start up, the engine fan runs, but the car wont turn over. It cant be towed to my dealership till Monday, and the people at Nissan say that theres a chance my immobilizer is malfunctioning, for which I would have to take it to the dealership anyways. Any suggestions as to what I could possibly do?

Oh and In case I didn't mention it already...this REALLLLLY sucks :/

Thanks for all your help

Its funny you mentioned that because just the other night, I was with my gf just chillin in the parking lot and we had the radio on and I believe after an hour the radio shut off on it's own....and we both looked at it and were puzzled....my first instinct was that I drained my battery, but I pressed the start button without trying to start the engine and the a/c,lights, fan, etc. turned on, then I started it just fine. I believe there must be a battery saver function that the electrical system won't let you play the radio by itself for more than an hour.....I have yet to go through to manual to confirm this....so just on that note I think it may have not had anything to do with you playing your radio....

^^ You were "chillen" in the parking lot for over an hour listening to music huh?

To the OP. Did you have it in the ACC position or the ON position? I frequently leave my radio on while cleaning the car in the driveway and have never had a problem. The radio does go off after a while to prevent the battery from draining if the car isnt all the way on.

I'm not quite sure about what position it was in SC, either way.. my car is dead...and I am in mourning till solve this predicament . I'm leaning towards it being a immobilizer malfunction, as there seems to be plenty of juice still in the car.

Just an update if anyones interested, apparently its not the immobilizer but actually a problem with the car they say. Every time they put in a new fuse, it blows. Being that the car has six miles of wiring in it, its going to take some time figuring out what the problem is exactly. They're on day two right now. You think I would be within my rights to ask for a rental car for the duration of them fixing it? It is starting to get rather inconvenient..

I would have gotten a rental car right off the bat. You just bought a new car, they need to take care of you. Every day your without that car is a day your paying for it and not driving it!

Gotta ask for these things, otherwise you won't get them.

I had a chip on my rear bumper fixed a few weeks after I bought it. It was there when I bought it and they promised to fix it...anyway, they gave me a rental for two days just for that.

Alaron, please keep us posted. I'm very interested as to what the outcome/progress is on this.

DEFINITLY get them on the line and tell them they WILL be paying for a loaner/rental (my dealer pays enterprise and uses them for rentals instead of having their own loaners)

Yes, you definitely need a rental. My car had a brake fluid leak and they gave me a rental for that free of charge.

My dealer used Enterprise also. Nissan pays for everything except the optional insurance. I just paid the 8.99 a day instead of something happening and having to pay the deductable from my insurance.

Nissan only pays for Nissans though. So if your local Enterprise only has a few Nissans be prepared to be put in anything even a POS Sentra.

That's what happened to me but whatever, I didn't have to ask for rides or anything.

Thanks for the suggestions and concern guys appreciate it. You were right BlackNWhite, ironic even, I got a POS sentra :D.

Anyways, down to the fun stuff. Its the second day and they still couldn't figure out what the problem was with it. Finally decided that the alternator was wet because I apparently washed and waxed my car with too much vigor(lawl). But, as they were fixing that, they realized the ACTUAL problem. Get this, one of the screws on the cover that goes over the car engine was pinching a wire that got stuck between the joints, and burned it off. Apparently a one in a million chance. It gets better though... They said that they don't know if they should replace the wiring harness or just the wire, and since they have no record of problems with this car, being a new model and all, Nissan wont let them touch it till a specialist drives down here from orlando and documents the case.

Ill keep you updated on how this turns out

Yep anytime my car was taken in for extended periods of time, they would lend me out a sentra or a rental from enterprise...

Well I hope this is the final post on this topic guys, just got her back today and all they said they had to do was fix the wire on the wiring harness and not have to replace the whole thing. Drove her around for a while and feel much better about life, love and all that grand stuff . All I have to do now is find a good stretch of road and see if that extra boost on the pedal thingie works on the 2.5 as well :D
