I have done a lot of searching on here, 240sxforum, and google and just can't seem to find exactly what i am looking for so here's the deal.

'89 Coupe swapping in a '91 DE. The '91 donor car is an auto and the '89 is a 5-speed. So when all is said and done can use the auto harness or should i just "blend" it to the 5-speed harness? The 5-speed harness is pretty beat up thats why i am trying to use the auto harness if possible.

you can use any 91-94 auto or manual ecu to engine harness. use the original lower harness out of the 5spd. the ecu/engine harness should simply plug in at the battery box and will need repined at the dash connection. the ecu will need to be from a 91-94 auto or manual, there is some talk of using an auto ecu on a manual and getting an erratic idle however i have used both and had no problems.

I have both an auto and manual 91+ ECU. I am just trying to find out if i could just swap the connector on the lower part or if i have to repin it?

picture one has the auto and manual ka24de harness laying next to each other, i am holding the plug that goes to the auto trans controller and you can see the manual harness has a unused plug taped up from the factory. you need neither of those plugs. picture two shows the harness from the ka24de being repined to match the dash in a ka24e 240, the brown one is the original ka24de plug and the white one is for the ka24e. you can either do it this way or cut the brown one off and wire on the white one. either way you need to end up with a ka24de wiring harness with the ka24e dash plug on it to make your gauges work. picture three is the final product, a ka24de wiring harness with a white ka24e dash plug to match my 89 240sx. mine also has a consult port wired into it, you dont have to do that.

consult port is the diagnostics port. the port itself is located inside the driver side kick panel on both sohc and dohc 240s. i took mine out of an altima with the ka24de in it and wired it into the harness there. simple color to color connection, except for the hot lead that powers the port, you will have to tap that somewhere else, i used the ecu hot lead. but again it isnt something you are required to do. the car will run perfectly with out the port.
