Will stock de pistons lower the cr in a e block with de head enough for u to daily drive it? Can some one throw some numbers? Has anyone done it? I kno that the de head will fit on the e block with mod. Would I have to run race gas or no? I'm really in need of help

i'm interested in what the NICO community has to say about this also. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time.

The bore and stroke are the same for both models, and I'm guessing that the deck height is the same as well. If this is true, then a DE head on an E block fitted with DE pistons would result in compression equal to a stock DE.

the entire front timing set has to be swapped to the DE. That includes the cover, chain, gears, and I believe a dowel has to be moved/removed. With the DE cover, you will have to use the DE distributor.

You mean the top cover from the DE and bottom cover from the E? because the oil pump is different. I was gone get a friend to weld a over the E distributor hole and use the DE dizzy. I see the inch between the to covers So if i make a template and close the gap It should be alright. With no squirters in the E block would the De bottom cover starve the engine? This is Like my last resort I've been through 2 engines I'm dead broke. I wanna keep my 240 alive but the gods frown upon it. but I kno this can be done for like $400 or less

I think you might be able to use the piston squirters on the E block with little modification, but don't take my word 100% for it. I swear I saw a thread in the 240 technical forum, multiple threads, actually; so dig through there, too.

The only thing you can reuse from the E for a DE is the block, crank, and rods. All else will be DE specific. The oil squirters can be used but you will have to have a shop drill and tap the holes in the oil galley to mount them; or you can get an E from a hardbody that comes with the squirters already in it.
